I want to put a 1930 model a cowl on a frame I have. It is a 1929 frame. I have been told it will not work. My question is why? I thought the 1928-1931 frames were all the same. I am going to build either a speedster or Jalopy. I will fabricate one piece together other items as needed. Any info is appreciated!!

It is just steel. Go for it.
According to some, nothing will work, but people still do it anyway.
Ask the geniuses if they ever saw a '29 on '32 rails.

If you are not going to run a hood you are OK,

If you want to run a hood you need to lower (about 3/4") the pad were the radiator bolts on

Awesome info. I was thinking the 29 radiator was smaller. In any case, I will probably fab a hood of some kind. Or as you suggest lower the rad. Thanks again!

I put a '30 Tudor body on a '28 frame. Had to cut the radiator pads but it was about 3/8" or slightly less not 3/4" I had a '30-'31 crossmember to compare and measure. Used a portable bandsaw and an angle grinder and welded all back together.

Close up is after the change. Full shot is before a dropped axle and spring over axle.

I’m reasonably certain the front cross member is the only difference between the two

Agreed. I have a 30 Roadster body on a 28 frame with 30 front crossmember. Everything fits fine
