Correction. I said I was glad the blue AMBR did NOT have the big ugly headlights. I just did not care for the lights bugging way out in front. On another thread some one else called the oversize headlights . **** ugly.

So this transplanted [ to California ] rodder from up around New York replaced the Whitey Clayton nose with a 32 grille shell. I'm surprised he didn't use a 38 Ford truck sewer cover grille that was so popular in the NE.

I'm probably in the minority here but I actually liked the the roadster when it was in the Tom Branch incarnation. Obviously, the way it is now is more historic and much more perfect but the previous style was just so SoCal and was more achievable in my eyes. Most of us can stare in disbelief at what it looks like now and I respect the effort it took to bring this legendary roadster to this level but few of us would have the resources, (cash and talent), to build such a masterpiece. When the roadster was yellow with the Chevy in it is was just a fun little car that had many miles on the road for sure.

I can't find any pics of the car in that version. It was featured in several books I used to have so pics are floating around.
Perhaps somebody can post up a few. Even the funky front end looked just so cool and reeked 1960's. So much of this version has found its way into my roadster. Both styles are cool to me but I personally enjoy the yellow version best.

The yellow car in the last pic is the edie Dye car. The first two pics are the duece he replaced it with. The yellow car had a black Chevy small block with a bunch of chrome. Both are neat roadsters.

I absolutely list the yellow version of this car as one of my top rods ever which includes Jim Inglese "Full House", the restored Edie Dye amd my Dads turquoise '34. These are the cars that made me as maladjusted as I am!
