Oooh chrome !! Looks fantastic, they did a great job !
So it should be a roller soon :)

  2. I finished the fuel tank & floor while waiting on the chrome axle.

I cut & glued thin rubber pads (leftover bits of a '55 Chevy anti-squeak kit) to the tank's mounting tabs to reduce noise.

Floorboard tops & bottoms are satin black epoxy.

I ground down portions of the edges and stitch-welded them to the sub- and cross-rails.

Then repainted the weld beads and sealed remaining seams with black silicone.
    20240328_120000.jpg

It took almost one full 10.1 oz tube.

BTW, welding the floor *after* the body was painted was a hassle.

But it was a conscious decision, because the body needed to be as light as possible when rolling it to my backyard "spraybooth". Not an excuse, just an explanation.

    Now to the front-end! :D

Do other cars' bolt holes seem to move ever so slightly during the time between disassembly and reassembly?:mad:;) 20240404_181737.jpg 20240404_181154.jpg 20240404_181340.jpg 20240404_181454.jpg

Looks great. Only question is the drag link looks like it is lying on hairpin.

  11. Yeah- there's a 3/8" gap between them.

A bunch of tasks still need to be done; alignment, cotter pins, yada yada yada. I might move the tie rod & drag link to on top of the spindles.

    Wowza!

I was just talking about “the old ford dance” last week. I had a part that I had numbers by each hole. It fit together perfect but you had to put the bolts in in a specific order lol.

take it off, look at it, go to put it back on and none of the holes match lol tale as old as time.

  21. I trimmed some welting to fit between the firewall, dash and cowl pieces.

It took two hours to align and tighten Henry Ford's "Cowl Clamps from Hell": :rolleyes:

Stock top column clamp halves are both satin black, so they disappear.
I gotta replace those modern TS & Flasher switches. Any ideas?o_O

"Clear anodized aluminum" -colored powder coating looks a bit plastic-ish, but not bad.

Nice detail, painting the boxed rail section black. One of those "Nobody will ever notice" details that true craftsmen apply to most things.

The stick on welting is genius after I pulled mine apart and all that worn thin cardboard bs dropped out I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to replace it with. Good idea. As is the socks over the column.

To contrast with the black interior, I pillaged my scrap bin for a white B&M shifter handle, a stainless steel fender washer and a Mooneyes hat pin.
