  4. Drove the Barracuda down the highway, put a whole 4 miles on it. Adjusted shift linkage and it now stays in reverse. Speedometer doesn’t work though….

Brake lights, tail lights and turn signals that refuse to work, but on a rare occasion they do for a few minutes. Suspect a ground issue but it will have to wait until next week.

Finished rebuilding the headers on the blower motor. They had cut them off to go into another car. And the install was never finished. I am slowly undoing many things they did. Also working on converting my cal custom scoop to a real deal functioning injector hat. Lol IMG_2179.jpeg

I think I took apart a big block once that hadn't been apart before...it had silver paint on each side of the cork valve cover gaskets. Along with other clues. This was a very long time ago, though.

  13. I spent way to long today sneaking up on the fit of the fender lower dog leg on the Henry J.
The collector ended up right where that fender piece attached so I had to cut around it, just roughed in for now.

The upper mount is still good but I totally cut off the lower mount hole on the fender and a small portion of the cowl where it attached. My plan is to make a mount that bolts to the collector flange since the engine is solid mounted, should work out fine.

  14. Today was school day. Little Truckdoctor has a John Deere round fender with a Kohler that hasn’t run in 3-4 years. I realize that part is probably O/T, but the point of my post isn’t. I taught him how to diagnose a non running engine. We checked for spark, of which there was none. Next, he learned how to diagnose a no spark condition on a point type ignition system. I explained how ignition points control the coil saturation and what happens when they open and close and how when points get a bad connection across them what happens. Then he learned how to check point operation with a test light. Next, he dressed the points with a point file. We checked and adjusted the gap and he was rewarded with a running Kohler K-181. After he got it running, then I taught him about the blown cylinder head gasket and the chirping noise they sometimes make. It was a good day for teaching and learning.

Went to the first local cruise in today. I am getting a new radiator for the wagon this week. The pushrods for the Corvette are supposed to be here this week. We will see how that goes.

I messed my shoulder up Monday and wound up in the ER. the joint looks good but i believe that I have to some stuff in it. I have a MRI Tuesday and go back to the doctor the following week.

We will see how things go.

Thanks I appreciate it. I have earned all of the aches and pains and injuries. I competed for too many years doing powerlifting and strongman stuff. Now I am reaping the rewards:).

Nice place Scotty. I did a frame up on a 70 LS6 for a customer, I sure had fun banging the gears on that rock crusher trying it out. Cam went flat on that one. That was the first I found out about the change in motor oil.
