Look into stopping by Gambino Kustoms in San Jose. I've never been there but I have talked Alex a few times and he is a cool guy that does some *****in work on traditional Hot Rods and Kustoms.

we have a few swapmeets here in SoCal like Pomona and Long Beach. Its about a 7 hour drive in a new car so dont know how long it would be in an untested older pickup..
Might want to check the road conditions too on "the g****vine" for November (those are the network of highways between LA-SF). Too bad you couldn't have come this summer, you could have bought a $15 sleeping bag and camped in the Bed of the truck at all the central CA beaches!

And if your in Bakersfield on a thursday? Squeak Bell’s - Kiwi Konnection in Bakersfield is a great garage stop, the beer is cold and the entrance fee is cheap (I brought Miller Light).

This place is big. It takes a lot of time to go anywhere.

SF is great, I was there a few weeks ago. Take a drive on CA highway 1 (uber-twisty, 25mph if your lucky) or state highway 101 (more like the A11, some two-lane, some dual carriage, but very hilly in places), both real nice roads right on the coast.

As for touristy stuff, cable cars are fun for ten minutes, Lombard St (crookedest street in the world) and Filmore St (steep street in Bullet) are cool to look at but not walk up. The trolleys are very Art-Deco and funky. Museums are free on wednesdays, except the SF Modern Art museum which is closed. The area around Paramount St and Columbia St (near Chinatown) is good for strip clubs if that's your game. Or if you prefer, the Castro District is the place to go for all your gay needs, at the end of the Market St trolley.

Oakland is dead easy to get to; just take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). The ticket machines are confusing the first time, but you'll soon figure it out. If you're driving of course, the Golden Gate and Bay bridges can't be missed.

You must go to the Roaring '20s strip club, truly oustanding entertainment. Cars are gay.
