This is a 350” engine originally from GM as an over the counter short block part #3966921 purchased in 1986 along with a new pair of 3987376 cylinder heads and the parts to ***emble them. Designed as a 11 to 1 compression 360 horsepower solid lifter engine for Z28 Camaro and Corvette service replacement. These parts were collected and stored until it was ***embled in early 2002. For use in a current mild street version vehicle now this was not practical with lower octane fuel and to limit maintance it was decided to lower the compression and change the cam to a hydraulic version. The block ***embly was dissembled and the pistons cut to lower compression to 9 to 1. Plate honed, rods magnafluxed and honed, forged crankshaft with rotating ***embly balanced, block decked and squared. The 3987376 cylinder heads were deburred, pocket ported and port matched and cc’d at 64cc, then ***embled with GM valves and springs. These heads are the “492” straight plug versions designed with screw in rocker studs and guide plates as well as induction hardened valve seats and have 10134358 springs to accommodate the Isky #201270 hydraulic camshaft. A 14044836 GM aluminum Z28 intake manifold for Holley single 4 barrel is fitted along with a MSD distributor. The engine was run in and power tested on a dyno in December of 2002 and the engine has been stored since that time. There is a build sheet and dyno sheet available as well as the removed unused NOS LT 1 solid lifter camshaft #3972178.
