IMG_1318.jpeg IMG_1317.jpeg Seems like it took forever, but FINALLY got my 260 Mercury engine/HFT cam broke in today for my ‘62. Still had to jump the solenoid, as I had a no crank situation last week, and haven’t had time to track it down because I’ve been so busy. Figured now I can track the bad connection down without the pressure of the HFT break-in looming. :)
Hope my 16 year old learned something along the way too.

IMG_2193.jpeg Changed oil /and filter /and inspected the old one. Didn’t look bad at all. Had to take the starter apart /didn’t clean a dang thing and saw nothing wrong but it worked when I put it back in so it’s all good. Builds 60 psi oil pressure just spinning over but I ran a 3 inch pipe and gauge directly screwed into the block so that was kinda expected.
In the middle of running the valves and even though I am working on a miniature fuel injection hat /I did freshen up the Frankenstein Holley that Uncle Marion and I designed specifically for it. Fuel lines smell like xxxx. Gotta flush them. So far I am pretty pleased. I think I am going to run water in head /block only for now. It appears it did a great deal of sitting with the dust layer on the outside but the inside looks great. IMG_2192.jpeg i

  9. Back on the '55 after the long winter. A friend gave me some good takeoff drum brakes from his FIL's 55. So some hardlines and hoses later, I've got a brake pedal. So the project rolls, steers and now stops. Running engine soon I hope. Maypop tires replaced with decent rollers. Couldn't resist hanging the slapper bars from Lloydfest. 20240429_164854.jpg
Does anyone else gravity bleed brakes? Always worked for me. 20240426_193010.jpg

  10. I put a pcv valve in my truck, covered the seat with Hispanic velvet, and just to piss everybody off, I finished the electric fan wiring :p I was out until 5:30am on a fire, so I slept til noon, didn't accomplish a lot today. 20240429_150449.jpg

  11. Hey Brother, what brand of Beer is on your shifter?

  12. Icehouse, I'm changing the shifter for a store bought piece, I've got a set of brass knuckles that I made into a shift handle, I'm gonna use it on the fancy shifter lol...

  13. Very cool! Too bad we couldn’t find you a nice handle from Grain Belt Beer or Hamm’s. Those are from up north where Moriarity is.

My vote is a Genesee Cream Ale handle and I'm not even from New York.

  15. My wife taught not to ask her to help bleed brakes a long time ago so i’ve gravity bleeding for years. Doesn't always work tho in my experience

I use gravity when I can, then call in my wife when it doesn't. She still has a little bit of a sense of humor about it.

  17. New spacers are better but still rub the rockers, left valve cover hits throttle bracket and right valve cover hit the intake manifold where the blower bolts on, batting a thousand here lol

I just received my wheels from thewheelsmith for my 46 Olds sedanette. I'm very happy, all I need to do now is add the rubber and it's another thing to tick off the list. The colour is the closest to OEM amber that I could find in the powder coater's catalogue. My NOS hubcaps were modified allowing them to fit the steel rim. Just add some SS trim rings. If I bore of the hubcaps I have some spider caps in the cupboard. 439888135_1800270343790175_1456901693449019419_n.jpg 439908167_819519296687943_340443031219413831_n.jpg 439741513_1074186533655499_1349882401613174383_n.jpg

  21. Scotty, I had to cheat a little. Mytyvac was old and plastic cracked up, tossed it. I put a short length of 3/8'' clear hose in my shop vac hose and sealed with electrical tape. Had to ''boost'' one of the rears to start the flow. Wife hates this''rusty pos'' so no help there. This means I keep it!

Just seems odd they hit, Crane rockers and MT valve covers has got to be pretty common thing.

  24. I recently had a similar issue on a BBC with roller rockers even hitting a set of stamped steel valve covers. I had messed up one of the Crane rockers and bought a new set of Harland Sharp rockers to replace them. Anyway, I ended up grinding the corner off of two rockers on each side that were hitting. When I pulled it back apart later, I just went back with the Crane rockers after filing down the small scar on the one I screwed up. As good as quality is today with new parts, I trusted the 25 year old Crane rockers more than the new ones from Harland Sharp.

  28. M/T's will clear the rockers once you remove the oil drippers, I didn't remove the drippers because I had the spacers, not knowing the rockers would hit the spacers.
Here's the old M/T's I had on it, with drippers removed.

@swade41 You could just sell me the valve covers , that would solve both of our problems. I really need a set. :p:D
