Bought some vintage decals at the flea market today and one is about the size of a small index card, "CPE/SEDAN CLASS" B/G national QUARTER MILE association All over a gold trophy with crossed checkered flags, one turquise-ish and black, one black and white. Border is the same blue. I just wondered what this was, Bing and Google came up empty. Figured if anyone would know, it would be someone here. There's an Indy 500 Speed Wheels decal in here too, I assume some short lived brand of mag wheels that no one remembers existed. The rest are more common.
I promise it's just as described. Way too windy out today to try to take pictures and my crap camera needs fairly bright light to make anything you can make out. These decals seem to be vintage around 1960 give or take. Was a '59 stamped Nascar permit tag in with them. I wondered if maybe it was a Canadian equivalent of the NRHA or maybe just the wish dot com version.
Something like this needs a visual aid. I recommend a flashlight in one hand and cell phone in the other
I've never seen it in my 60+ years of reading rod magazines and I was far more wrapped up in drag racing than street cars in the 60's. I'd say that was an association that someone tried to start back in the day that may have been at only one or a hand full of tracks. Possibly not running more than a season or two.
