Used a six volt heater motor on twelve volts since 1965. Had a three speed switch. Ran it on low (the motor ran high). I just sold the car, and it was still working fine.
It was on my "to do list" for MANY years, but never got around to "fixing" it.

  2. or keep the resistor and use a SPDT switch and wire direct on one side, when you want an extra ooomph of heat, flip the switch to 12v, when dogs head is inside, flip the switch back to the 6v side.

Just a thought here. Would a 6 volt heater blower motor in a street rod with 12 volt system work okay if it was wired with a common resistor like is on a tri-5 Chevy that drops voltage from 12 to 9 volt to the distributor??? Seems (in theory anyway) that it would be safe???
    THOUGHTS on this working.

6v is 1/2 voltage of 12V system and double the Amps draw at load . It will work fine , mine has for years .
