Who would have thought one simple change could make such a big difference! I still would like to see one more porthole on each side of the hood.

I thought about putting another ventport on the fenders, and a sunken antenna. I had started on the car 30 years ago, and just needed to finish it. So I decided to quit adding more work and paint it.

    Hello,

Well, the color is fine. But, it is the wire wheels with your blackwall tires that need help. Also, if you are into low riding cars and cruise with the back lower than the front, it will look like a trunk load of teenagers are stuffed in there going to a drive in theater. It would be like we used to do sometimes, when money was low and action was high inside the Drive-in theater parking lot.
    upload_2024-5-7_2-35-27.png @themoose outstanding version... thanks M...
My old 58 Impala had a nice set of white walls. Those made it look stock, which it was. But to make it look racy, we tried all sorts of changes with what little money we had. Then after our drag racing days, the big change came with 5 Buick Skylark wire wheels purchased from a friend and now, the modifications started.

The tires can still be 15 inch ones to fit the Buick Skylark Wire Wheels, but perhaps a narrower lower profile tire. So, if you still want to run the skirts, at least the full exposed front wheel/rim will not look like a 4x4 off road tire.

Also, the black tires, may need some additional color for contrast. So, no wide whites. That makes your fastback sedan look like big beach balls rolling down the street. A narrow set of white wall stripes like the 60s brand of skinny whitewalls that were popular back then.

In my drawing the big blue fastback, it looked ok, with the chrome rear fender accessory. But, the skinny whitewalls did give it some contrast and made it not so bland. The Wide whitewalls made it look as if the sedan was wearing white bobby sox for a nice outing at the school dance...

But, for the last drawing, I made some changes to the overall look, but still incorporated those skinny whitewall tires and cool rims.

Some attitude and less blue in the rear made the overall look like a cool custom car rolling down the street. Taking off the skirts made it look a lot thinner in profile and not overloaded in the rear section, as if a heavy weight was in the trunk.

But, it was the addition of those custom Buick Skylark Wire Wheels, low profile tires, skinny whitewalls, and no skirt that made this old car very cool. Also, a mild rake also gave it some cruising attitude, without going overboard. YRMV
