Technical HELP HELP HELP---

I have a 1961 Ford F-100 truck and want to use the original mounting system out of the slots on the doors. I don't know how to get at the tabs in the doors to attach the rest of the mirror setup. What am I not seeing? Any help would be very appreciated!
