  1. To all the whiners that insist a car CAN'T be badass unless it's steel. Chew on this for a second. Pat Pattons badass base/gold 34. Scroll down for more pics.

When I sit and think that I'd really like to have a 32 5w............then reality sets in and like a train hitting you at 100mph, I come to the realization that I will NEVER be able to afford a real 32...........

Glass is looking better every day!

    yes, very cool car......

Flip.... you kill me... Oh man...

Groucho, I think that question is most likely answered differently by everyone... To me, that isn't the bottom line. My favorite part about old cars is just that... they are old, the have a story, they have texture, they have survived.... Glass cars don't give me that feeling...

Doesn't mean they aren't cool... That car is really creative... just not my thing.

  14. I guess my point is that a LOT of people look at 'glass cars like a fucking Kia Sport or something. That it CAN'T possibly be "cool' if it's not steel. Clearly a mistake by the above pics. If you weren't told it was 'glass, you wouldn't know it lacked the things you've mentioned, such as age, texture, etc. Make sense? If i just posted these pics and said, hey look at my new toy. My uncle left it to me. Folks would assume it was steel and go on to compliment it.

These 'glass threads usually end up with more "heated debate" than the "what is traditional" threads and even the occasional VW thread:rolleyes:

What about steel cars covered in fiberglass? my '55 is 'glass from the wheel wells down from it's last "restoration."

It'd be like getting a hot new girlfriend and taking her for a spin, then finding out she's a boyfriend instead.
Point I'm trying to make (my opinion) is that even though it looks the same out the outside, it may not be what you desire underneath the paint/clothes. Ever watch them talk shows that have the men dressed as women? Feel sick after?

Can somone please explain why a fiberglass car cant have soul? Every car has a story to tell just some more than others.Fiberglass aint a new thing and metal isn't the only thing with a story to tell

Im fixin to buy one for my next project. I would rather drive a glass car in gel coat than a real steel one with holes so big you can see through it , and i have seen alot of them around ...........my 2 cents and as for soul I will give it the soul and the style and the stance....

Fiberglass cars can be built to look just as cool as any other car. But is buying stuff and bolting it together really as cool as finding a old survivor that has been sitting for 50 years. Planning, cutting, grinding, welding and painting that old scrap of steel to look as cool is relay cool. And for me you just cant replace the sound of closing a steel hood or door.

  27. Now, there it is! I think Pat gave HIS car the soul it deserved. Good luck to you. You've got the right attitude. You don't have to BUY soul, you can incorporate it into your "build"

Hey fellas... there is no point arguing this one. No body is going to be able to change anyone else's mind... It's an opinion thing...
