In 1996 I bought a new shortbox 2wd S10 as a back and forth to work shooter. I lowered it threw on a tonneau cover and some wheels. My pal Bruce put candy fire on it for me . pretty cool little pickup. I stored it winters but commuted to work (80 miles a day) for almost 10 years . I sold it in 2005 to a friend of my daughters and told him thai if it ever got to be for sale that I would like to get the first crack at it. And man of his word he called me 16 years later and sold it back to me. He never drove it winters either so it is rust free. Man I can't tell ya how thrilled I was to get this little thing back
My mom bought a 96 S-Blazer brand new. Good drivers. They really look good lowered with wheels.... and flames!
Lot of people knock them, but they were pretty decent little haulers. I had two, an 82 standard cab telephone company stripper and a 84 extended cab with all the options except 4wd and automatic transmission. Both had the wimpy 2.8 V6, a good commuter motor but woefully underpowered for any hauling.
That is a cool truck. I almost bought an S10 extended cab 2WD with a five speed a few years ago but decided on a newer Colorado 2wd extended cab with a 5-speed and VVT 4 cyl. It was pretty snappy for a four. My son rolled it, totalled it but main thing was he was buckled in and un-injured. S10's like yours in decent shape (aka rust-free) seem to be bringing stupid money these days. I think you did good.
When I saw the title I thought we might be getting a walk-around video of the Chevelle. Nice little truck by the way.
Moriarity driving a modern rig on radial tires ?!?!?!? I owned an 85 blazer years ago I did a 350 tpi engine 5 speed posi rear lowered within an inch of its life . Fun rig , but got pulled over a ton in it ( all black , 18” Center lines and tinted windows) kept it for a couple seasons and sold it as it was a hassle always getting pulled over . super reliable , cheap , fun vehicles !! !
I have a buddy that has a '96 S-10 4X4 that he mounted a '52 Willys Jeep Wagon on....I'll try to shoot a photo of it when I see him and it next....yours is prettier...
My first truck when I got married was an 82 S-10. Slightly dechromed, and GeeBee style scallops on the front. A year or so later it warped a head on the puny V6, so out it went and in went a built 350. Nice little truck that I still miss sometimes.
Man,,,,,I’m as confused as a CIA agent back in the old days ! You were the last one I thought would ever post on that board . Not complaining,,,,,just totally surprised that the Great Moriarity can have an OT ride and hide it from us ! Now that’s a professional right there,,,,,,Mark,,,,you really are the Man ! Lol . Tommy
Got to ride in the little S10 tonight…and the vette, and the 40. Thanks for a great evening visiting Mark!
Drove a bunch of S10's over the years, wore 'em out. Yours was sitting in your driveway when I pulled in, I said ''that cool''! My '89 short bed was black with an old set of TTs in the '90's when nobody was running 'em.
S-10's are great. had a 93 with the wimpy 2.8 and 5 speed, now I drive a 98 S-10 Blazer which just turned 100,000 miles. OG owner little old lady vehicle. turned 70,000 as I drove it home 4 years ago.
