Does anybody on here have a 36 Ford roadster That can give me a measurement of please. I'm looking for the measurement from the cowl support rod mount to the radiator support. I believe whoever put the motor in this car 20240507_155832.jpg 20240507_153033.jpg Set it way too far forward as it seems to need to go back about 2 inches just to clear the radiator.

  2. My 39 standard was very similar. Do you have the OG radiator brackets? My were missing (hacked to death ) and had the same issue setting mine up.

All the brackets are there and the customer is bringing me The support rods and the front sheet middle, so I can mock it all up. I've got a friend with a 36 Ford fordor and he measured it and it was about 5 inches longer than what I have, so I'm pretty sure something is up. Maybe the roadster has a smaller front area. I don't know.

  4. That's waaay to far from the firewall to fit. You can get it all to fit without firewall mods but it's almost touching and I believe all '36 bodies are the same dimensions in the engine bay. My Coupe is cocooned, but I do have pics.

    Not mine:

Thank you very much for the pictures. And that's exactly what I was thinking, as It needed to be almost touching just to clear.

  6. Roadster and regular passenger car are the same. And yes, the engine needs to be all the way back against the fire wall. You have to do that for all 35 to 39 standard cars. The bolt on side mounts always seem to move it to far forward but the hurst style front mounts will put it back. Also that low mount alternator ain’t gonna work whe. It all the way back.

  7. Here is some pics of my 39 standard. The firewall is in exactly the same location from 35 through 40 cars, as as you know the frames are basically the same, radiator brackets are different across the years. But this might help with location of the engine. This is with the engine bolted to an old cragar adapter to the factory trans. The older mock up pics are with side mounts that put the engine to far forward. The finished nice pics are with a hurst front mount. I went out and measured mine. It is right about 28.5", see below.

I couldn't hold the tape measure and get far enough back to get it in one shot, but here are two pics that show where I measured from, which was the front side of the rod mount on the cowl to the back side of the mount on the radiator. Hope this helps.
