Folks Of Interest Coolest shift knob ever!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 57 Fargo, May 9, 2024.

  1. I’ve made it no secret that I struggle with mental health at the best of times, this week has been particularly stressful however I received a bright spot in the mail today from @Moriarity. I reached out to him last week looking to buy a red metal flake shifter knob, well I was lucky enough to get the one out of his Corvette since he built a bitchin’ new one.
I’m honored to have a piece of such a cool car in mine, we will see if his concern of a Mopar rejecting a Corvette part is real or not! Ha ha!
Out of respect for Mark I’m not mentioning details of the dealing, he is welcome to if he likes. I did want to mention that he is truly a nice guy and I need to go east to meet him in person one day. Picking up and unwrapping the package this morning was a bright spot in a dismal week! Thanks Mark!

  7. Let me make it clear I wanted to pay for it, in no way did I expect Mark to gift it to me but it meant a lot to me that a stranger would do that for me, although I feel like we would be friends if we weren’t so far away.

  9. Mark is a great guy,,,,,he helped me too !
He has the equipment and the expertise,,,,,and could easily charge a reasonable fee,,,,,but he still stands up and helps guys when he can .
I’m sure he helps all he can,,,,,but there has to be a cutoff point too .
I’m just glad he had compassion for me,,,,I truly appreciate it !

So far the car hasn’t rejected it! This car I put together for my middle daughter, she is taking it to grad in June, I showed her the shift knob and she said “that slays”. As far as I can tell that’s a good thing.

Looks great! Very cool! And, even cooler that your daughter drives a standard. Both my boys drive standards as well.

  14. Both of my girls that drive can drive manuals. My oldest has a six speed Dart that’s her daily

Guess daddy raised them right after all. Now to just get them into an old Chevy!
And as far as Mark goes anyone who would invite a bunch of strangers over to his house to check out that museum. Then have them leave as friends has got to be cool!

Cool and the best part it looks like it always belonged right there in the Truck and wasn't just stuck in there.

We had a blue version of that Barracuda. Ours had a 318 4 speed. My wife loved it, and even learned how to drive the manual trans so she could drive it. She would have liked it better if it would have been an auto trans, but I sure liked that 4 speed. It was a fun car. That red shift knob belongs in that car!

After the Barracuda left, my wife decided she didn't need to drive a manual trans vehicle again.
My wife wants to know if you will adopt her and build a 65 Barracuda for her, she would like one with an auto trans.

No wonder you had such an easy time convincing her to drive a stick. It’s cute! More pictures please! And pictures of the other hidden treasures you have around there too!

  25. This is a stock roller 318, A833 overdrive four speed with an 8 3/4” rear. Fun little car for sure.

This is when I brought it home, late summer of 2022 I think.

  27. Sorry Gene I have a ‘62 Tbird next in line for my wife!

  28. We've got some pretty cool people running this show. Ryan gifted me HAMB knob #29. I treasure it, and proudly run it on my RPU.
