Just need to seam sealer and prep the rest of the floor for paint. No pro by any means but can get shit done. Ems makes a good quality piece too.
Seam sealed the edges of the new floor pan, now just to strip the rest of the floor and paint it. Then removed the passenger fender for lower corner repair and pulled the tailgate off to replace it with better one I bought awhile back.
That's a really cool looking '57 great progress and stance is Awesome, kinda like the red primer with some satin clear and keep the Chrome reverse.good luck .have fun !Even the satin gold is kinda cool look too
Nice one. My car came from Oregon and had rust also (there was a trad mouse house under the rear seat) so you have my sympathy. Totally agree with your approach, this car looks good as is.
'Roughed in' my lower fender corner. I used a piece from another fender which needed a little patch done on it. I should have taken a before pic of this fender but I didn't. I have a little more metalworking followed by some filler left.
Looking good Jon! Ospho is your friend. What you don't replace...Treat what you can and paint inside and out. Saw that Rancho many times at Bville and glad to see you doing it. Randy
Yessir, been trying to do that! Here's tonight's update, bolted fender back on. I'm satisfied with the lower rust repair, needs some filler to make it better but it'll do!
After further investigation I ended up ordering the drivers side floor pan as well tonight..kinda 2 steps forward 1 step back..oh well
Rusty cars suck sometimes! Started to work on my "new" tailgate while I wait for my floor pan to show up. Found a bunch of pinholes in it. All the screws had to be drilled out and I cut the bottom of the tailgate to get the threaded bolt plates out..that sucked! I also cleaned up and rattle can rebuilt the engine bay. I also picked around on the quarters and am gonna need to buy inner quarter panels as well...
It's coming along great! Nice work. It's my first time seeing this thread and so scrolling down from the beginning I was pretty surprised to see the rusty/abandoned pic.
Kill-mat installed. Also test fitting the seat out of my F100, I found a better seat for that so this will be in a new home.
Seat brackets made and bolted in, grade 8 bolts installed after. Started chopping out the rusty quarters. Need to order inner quarters and build some pieces.
Not a whole bunch of updates but the wiring is about 97% done. It runs again! I need to order inner quarter panels and start working on the sheetmetal again.
Work got done this weekend. Handmade inner quarter panels front and rear and burned in the outer skins. Not perfect by any means but this is also the first quarter panel skin I've ever done. Now onto the passenger side!
Couple small patches on the doors. This completes the rust repair on the drivers side minus some filler.
Looking really good! I was just looking at my Merc yesterday and starting to dread the rust repair. Thanks for the motivation.
