Fun gig and a great way to start the season. Asked one of the BEACHES employees if they had heard anything about PIR beyond this final year. Nothing. Mark Macias was in the back cooking hot dogs. That’s going to be a huge gap to fill

Yeah, I talked to Mark while he was leaving in the beaches van. Great guy and a great loss to the community when he hangs up the spurs. Those dogs were pretty good!

Great cars, and like it’s already been said, that yellow Goat is fine.

It was an incredible event! Hundreds of HAMB friendly cars and hundreds of not so friendly.

I damn near went back for a 2nd dog. They were darn tasty. I’ll admit it…

Great chatting with @Bandit Billy, Tim with a T, and Kim early this morning. Wish I could have had some of Bill’s ‘coffee’. There were 472? cars registered and I’m sure many that didn’t register.

    A great day,

    John

It was great to meet you guys, too. I’ve seen your cars at various events, but never put a face to the car, or to your posts for that matter. I will only add a couple pictures, one that may get deleted of my late night watching the Northern Lights (rare for us to see here).

@Tim_with_a_T it was good meeting you today finally! Let's make sure it was not the last time. And @Taboo56Chevy same goes. Fun catching up, we will do it again soon, I hope. Good luck on the new car!
All in all, I think @Kim Strobeck and I ran into 8 or 9 HAMB members. Probably a lot of lurkers (they're everywhere). Cool beans!

If you don't like car shows, you are attending the wrong ones!

@Almostdone Great seeing you again. Been a year since the 110 degree Pendelton "Meltdown". But ya know? I'd do it again. It's a dry heat.

There was no way I was going to bug you while you were conducting court Mayor Marty. Enjoyed our little banter and you know where to find me.

I think the Classic is more of a "happening" than a car show.

I remember this roadster from the heyday of the Cruise at Lews. I was sorry to miss this (again). I’dve liked to meet you hoodlums.

No, unfortunately Russ is not doing well at all. I asked Cedric about how he was, and he told me things have really gone downhill with dad.

  17. Great pics BB....I kept looking for a picture of "your wifes" '41, must have missed it.

I was going to drive it over but it still doesn't have any mileage on it. Breaking down at 4:30 am on the freeway in Portland was not how I wanted to start my day  We are planning on taking it to dinner this evening and going for a drive.
I am sorry to hear that as well. I saw Cedric yesterday, but I didn't get a chance to say hi.
That weird wood roadster is made from Myrtlewood that only grows in a few counties in southern Oregon and the California coast as well as Palestine I hear. Even the flatheads and blower are Myrtlewood. Not my bowl of fruit but fun to look at.

After looking at all the pics I'd have to agree. It seems the "happenings" are just more informal and fun to attend and this one could definitely be added to that ever-growing list!
@Bandit Billy - Thanks again for the pics. Great thread.

The "Woodster" was a staple at car shows around the NW, it was built by Larry Andersen many years ago, never met him but some friends knew him.

Nice bunch of pictures. I see a lot of fellow geezers there. Any guess what percentage of attendees were under age 50?

No, it’s not me but he does spell his last name the same as mine. Someone called me years ago about another ‘32 he had built thinking it was me. Got my name and number through a car show registration

I won’t venture a percentage, but there were a reasonable number of families with a few kids in attendance. And per it being in Portland, I saw one woman (under 50) with a large live snake, and another mid-30s couple with at least 4 ferrets in their possession; not sure how old the ferrets were.

I'd say most were over 50, a lot over 70.

And if you look at the background in a few of the pictures I posted there are a few scattered tents and RV's at the curbs. They weren't getting much sleep when we rolled in. I saw the ferret people, missed the snake girl, saw a homeless guy relieving himself on the street, surprisingly no police. It was fun!

You’re right, it is “Sen” on the spelling. My bad…

  28. So sorry to hear this. Russ is a very talented, knowledgeable guy...... somewhere between whacko and genius, but mainly leaning towards genius. He's done a lot of amazing things in his lifetime, and is the poster boy for thinking outside of the box. Best wishes and prayers to him and his family.

I know Larry and he lives just a mile from me. Been around the Portland car scene for decades, and he's tried selling the Woodster several times, but as nice as the work is, it's a limited audience for possible buyers.
Larry has one of those ratted out old Model T cars he used to drive also, but he built a gorgeous 1950 Chev coupe that he had Aaron at Southbound Customs paint in silver. When he finished it he said it was too nice, and immediately sold it.
