    Cool shop truck!!!
I had a dark red car that had paint about the same condition as yours. My car was beyond any waxing or buffing and I wanted it to just look natural. Back in the 70’s I was in college and had no money for a paint job. I used to wash it by hand at home, drive it to the do it yourself quarter car wash and spend a whole quarter with the “hot wax” just soaking the paint. Then a quick rinse and dry off with a towel. This went along way to stop the chalking and make the car look much better with natural aging. (Wow I sound like an ad for women’s beauty crème)

  2. Very cool. Like a sedan delivery with windows and a pickup tailgate. You seem to be doing great without any advice from me, I’ll sit back and enjoy the view.

    Thanks fellas.
Painted the wheels pistachio to match the body and turned the white wall pinners out to coordinate with the roof and bumpers.
Working on the old chalky dirty paint next.
Not going too crazy - .None of the protect patina elixir.
Just some basic clean up buffin'.
    Here’s some updated pics….

Yep, looking better all the time.

  7. Time to see some other hubcaps. The 5 spoke gmc caps seem a bit newish for me. But to be honest I can’t see them from where I am at.

    They are newer 70s/80s era.
They came with it plus some no-name moons which I’m not a fan of.

I’m in the hunt for a 1962 GMC Caps now.
I’m hoping I can find some at the good guys show/swap meet which is pretty good size this weekend at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Should have 5000 cars approximately. And presuming that the swap meet will be pretty decent as well. Wish me luck that I can find some.

I’m not sure of the back diameter of The original 62s.
I hope they are 10-1/4 inches like the newer ones that I have now that fit on the rim.

If you fellas have one that you could measure the back diameter and let me know. Thanks.

If any of you fellas happen to have any let me know.
    Thanks

The 64-66 GMC caps appear to be repopped? I had no idea that some of these would be as hard to find as it appears they are. I have a set of the painted ones on my 61, but am still planning to run them at least for now.

Also, seems like I may have a kept a couple of these from the 62 GMC I had and sold. I'll check and see if I have them.

    That can be remedied...

The white "work truck" level bumpers and roof are a huge improvement, but the skinny white walls make the tires look dinky on such a m***ive vehicle. Were the previous blackwall tires a larger diameter?

I think going back to that look with the aforementioned white dog dish GMC caps would look fantastic.

Is it possible to rotate the bumpers 180 degrees so the angle matches the forward leaning angle of the front clip? I'm sure someone has done this already, but I think it would unify the nose of the truck a bit more.

    Staying with the current 350.
Not going back to the 305.

Haven’t gotten that far with the 180 bumper turn.

The white roof and bumpers really transformed the look.
