I have a question. It looks like they took a stock Olds front bumper and moulded it to the front fenders. How do you keep something that heavy bouncing down the road from cracking by the welds? Or was it just a trailer queen? But even then, the bumper would move some even in a trailer.
haha, it was not me..... I remember when it was advertised for 140 grand in about 2011... I bet the restoration costs were 6 figures....
That happens once in a while. No reserve auctions can bite you in the butt if you're a seller. The stars were not aligned for the seller.
Yes, they were exhaust pipes. I believe they were still with it. The rest of the exhaust system was gone, so I don't know if they were functional in any way.
As what happens with most old customs..they are changed up so they don't become stale at shows. I don't know if the original builder did the second bumper variation or if it was a subsequent owner. I think the original was best of course. There was a whole lotta bondo blending that bumper in. There were cracks and chunks missing when I had it....but that was 45+ years after they did it....im sure it held up ok back then.
Kind of looks like a custom flower car. Be really cool if that top was removable. 20 grand was a steal in my mind!
An old picture of that car showed up in my old thread about the ‘50 Ford “Ranchero” I found in a nearby field. I’m really glad to see that it’s restored and still around.
