Im sure plenty of people on here have off topic vehicles and as long as its tasteful I cant see a problem .
My stable is all over the place
    48 Chevy coupe
    56 Studebaker shortbed truck
    65 Buick GS day 2
96 GMC 4WD lifted and Procharged
    Several VW Beetles
    so Im good with it

  2. It's funny I really like the small block Chevy in the looks department I mean it's not as cool as a nailhead Buick or a flattie Ford or a 392 Chrysler but the earlier small blocks that still had the oil fill in the front of the intake I always thought were really pretty engines in stockish form with the script valve covers and the ram horn manifolds you really couldn't go wrong. As for the LS or the more modern LT they really are ugly, they run hella good or as my friend would say like a raped ape but you just keep the hood shut and when strangers ask what engine your ride has you just answer with "its stock" and leave it at that.

  3. So my current derelict vehicle collection as of today (this changes regularly at times),
In order starting from the oldest to the newest,
1918ish hupmobile model r going on a Model A banger chassis,
1931 Ford Model A pickup (this thing is my heart and soul and a stupid expensive so far and all I want it to do is look like something from 1962 Wilshire boulevard)
    1951 Kaiser deluxe
    1952 Kaiser deluxe
1953 Kaiser Manhattan (same as the deluxe)
1960 Dodge d100 pickup Flathead 6 three on the tree
1973 Lincoln Continental Mordor (the car I've had since I was a really young adult)
My Gavin Newsom is governor car (one of the very first cars I've ever had that gets good gas mileage) 1999 Saturn station wagon, this car I hate to admit it has been great and makes a great estate sale runner.
My tow truck that I would like to replace with a big block Ford powered 48 to 56 Ford f300 but that's a story for another day anyways my tow truck is a 2005 Dodge ram Hemi if I am being honest I really like the truck but I would like to get away from smog cars and being in California smog is a thing on 76th and newer vehicles

Wow almost a week for the OT site. No mass exodus from HAMB actually I think there is more traffic! A lot of neat stuff on the new site almost HAMB but not, mostly due to country of origin or being a little newer. Love it.
Thank you @Ryan and moderators, I actually got to post my OT project which is very near and dear to me. I never expected to be able to post and I was OK with that. There are a quite a few HAMBers who are familiar with Healeys that have given me suggestions and help along the way Thank you, the point being that the knowledge base of HAMB is huge and covers most if not all automotive knowledge.
One thing I noticed was some funny colored lights in the sky this past Friday night, heaven and earth moved?

I was skeptical at first as many but it really could be a good thing as the OT stuff has gotten kinda out of hand especially when looking back at older threads it just may clean the place up.

  8. I went outside here in Riverside (the Inland empire of Southern California) a few times in the middle of the night I did not see any "Northern lights" my buddy showed me a picture from a very short mountain range that separates Orange county from the Inland empire called the "Ortega mountains" and somebody was up at the radio towers whish is the peak I think it's 4,700 ft and there was a slight pink light that was able to be seen in the heavens. I think here in Southern California there is just too much light pollution as you can only see really bright stars and you would swear the heavens were empty so to speak.
I remember one of the first times I got out into the middle of the desert probably a hundred miles away from anywhere and out in the distance you could see the glow of LA and the glow of Las Vegas the other direction but above me there was a billion stars.

I had two thoughts about this. First, with my absent-mindedness I might easily forget which forum I'm on! My apologies in advance.

Second, I'd expect the new forum to make it possible to be stricter on the main forum? In that case, it may or may not make sense to move some of the existing grey-area threads to the new forum?

  12. The bitchy clowns can leave. There IS a door ya know. How does it affect you? All you gotta do is choose to ignore the new section and continue to enjoy the HAMB like it’s always been.

Ryan, as much as I love traditional rods and customs I also appreciate everything else and adding a section for this stuff makes this a one stop shop for wasting more hours of my day. Imagine Street freaks, VW's and even Moriarity's 66 SS being shared with everyone in one place. I know the sticklers will get their feathers ruffled but it's still a traditional site first and foremost, just now it's opening itself up to more people to discover and appreciate the history of the hobby. I was born in the 70's and this stuff speaks to me, inspires me and make me want to build more traditional stuff and carry the hobby into the future. I do think at some time it will need some sort of guardrails to keep to it focused but so far its Awesome. Thanks for taking the risk

Could this open the door to amazing builds by Buttera (almost EVERYTHING), Boyd (think the Candyman's coupe) and other builders from the '70's and '80's?

Wait, so I can start doing build threads again? Been building 1930s-1960s stuff for years but haven't posted once since maybe 2013 or so when there was a ban on front clips. At once point it was cool and didn't matter what was under the hood or suspension as long as the outside was right. Starting on a 56 3100 pickup next week.

Absolutely love the new section. I have seen the start of some great builds and some great pics axed because they did not fit. Now they have a place. Thank you Ryan!

I have a Simca 5, same as Fiat 500 (Topolino) that I will be starting on late this Fall. I can't bring myself to use a front axle, and plan on a strut front suspension, as I want it to be a road racer of sorts. The engine I am looking at won't fit on the current HAMB regulations either, so I wouldn't have much to show in a build thread. The new forum might be a place for it.

I'd imagine basically everything would have to go over there then.

I really hope that EVs are allowed. My little Austin which I am slowly working on is going electric. Hopefully, it will end up looking like a miniature gasser with its big and littles on mag wheels. Maybe if I put on dummy exhaust pipes out back?

It’s easy just don't look at the off topic section if you are not interested.

@Moriarity I might be mistaken but I think No EVs is the only rule on the OT forum, is this correct?

I’m sure there will be but for now one rule - pretty simple - not sure why people keep pushing the issue?
