Projects Rollers :D '40 Chebby kind of trad adjacent. Someone's stalled project.

What taillights are you gonna use? I have some extra 40 chevy taillight pieces and parts left over from my 34 project.

 

I am not sure if the car was headed for the bull ring or not. It has all new glass so that may suggest that someone was building a circle track car. The fenders are certainly hacked that way.

The guy I got it from built higher zoot cars and had this one for 30 years. He make have cut 'em for fat tires. It also has a non trad clip under it, and its a little wide. They could have been cut for that too.

I think that the tire wheel combo will fit under the originals, I may have to relieve them a little bit. Not like they are now. Something a little less drastic. LOL

 

I have most of a pair of 39 Ford lights. Good original lenses and bezels. A pair of Frenching buckets. I could use the electric part of the lights.

I have some other options but I am leaning heavy on the 39 fords now

I have been concentrating on house stuff. Winter is giving me a good hard look. LOL

 

I am not trying to bump this thread. Gawd knows that other than collecting some parts and loosing some others we have not made much progress on the old heap.

That said I was scrolling and somehow have overlooked this pic. I think that is actually a 41.

what made me come back around to this is that at first blush it appears that someone sunk the headlights into the fenders. I actually did that for a guy back in the 90s. I mentioned that to the missus and she gave me a emphatic, "absolutely not. I want em stuck on the top!!!!! Bug eyes"

anyway not bump but I just kept coming back to this pic until I figured it out.

Yes. In 41 the fenders were part of the fender. In 40, they kind of sat on top with a recess.

 

yup in 40 the head lights and turn signals were surface mounts. Bug Eyes is what the missus calls em. I got the original turn signal housings but I'll do something different with them. I have used '47 Ford park/signal lights on them before. They are easy, probably won't do that today but that is an easy "custom" solution.
