Yes! No leaks, and it’s actually quieter than it has been in years. :)
I figured I’d take it for a drive today to check everything out, and it won’t go into 2nd gear. Fluid level fine, and linkage and vacuum line is fine. I’m just honestly out of time on this. My wife and family has been very patient with me putting everything else on hold these last few months, and I have a few things that need attention on my other car I’m bringing.
    No regrets, shit happens. :)

  3. You done good!! I've always said dead lines get things done. I seem to work better under pressure. But I've been in your spot a few different times. on the bright side when you get the trans squared away the car will be better than ever that's pretty cool! I will see you Saturday make sure to say hi. I do my best to talk to everyone but the day goes by really fast. Drive safe everyone remember it's not the destination it's the journey. Keep the greasy side down.

  4. My lovely wife and I are going to make a pre run today. Make sure no spontaneous road work hasn't sprung up you know those construction barrels grow out of the ditch over night :eek:.

This is always a good day and one of my favorite and most relaxing parts of the event. :D Praying for a great run! After being up there a few weeks ago, you all have some great two lanes to drive! :)

And, we have definitely come across some funny things doing these. I remember the year in Springfield that we came up over a hill to find a table and a couple chairs in the middle of the road since they apparently had some marathon going. Bret had to talk them into letting us through since it was going to be kinda hard to turn 250 cars or so around and head them in a different direction. We have also run up on at least two parades in small towns in Oklahoma as well and had to divert the route last second while driving...once down a mile or so of dirt road that wasn't too popular for some. I have learned to look for any possible events in the towns we go through. You would think after 10 years of doing these, we would have all this figured out... :D

I'm pretty much on the same page as Gene. Oil change and a wash on the old Dodge and we will see ya Friday night.

Oil change is done. The truck got a passing grade.

The truck clean up might be between some rain drops tomorrow... But at least the current crop of squished bugs will be gone. They might be replaced with a new batch Friday on the trip north, but that will be OK.

  9. The run looks good! T shirts have arrived. The 55 got it's oil changed and when I got home I thought the car was getting loud up front. Yep manifold gasket donut things are shot. IMG_20240516_145710453.jpg

My son and I took both my Pontiacs for a run yesterday of about 40 miles. THESE cars are doing fine. Just leaving the Mercury till next years run I guess. I’m just out of time. Anyway don’t shame me for bringing a ‘71, I’m out of old cars. :)
Everything has been checked, and I’m good to go. I packed a toolbox and cleaned the windshields today. I rarely wash my cars, and I sure the heck ain’t before driving far.
Tomorrow after work, it’s just gas up and go.

67dtake, If my 49 couldn't make it for some reason, the only other licensed option right now would be my wife's rusty PT, though I would deeply consider buying plates for my coupe instead. Either way, we would still be coming!

The truck is cleaned up, I even waxed it! Will be leaving around noon. Buying gas in WI, its 40 cents a gallon cheaper then in IL and only 25 miles north of us!

The map app my wife has says its 149 miles, and 2 3/4 hours to West Bend on back roads. We are not looking forward to this at all, as you can tell. ;) :p :D LOL!

See all your smiling faces tomorrow.

Had a great time. With the exception of having to throw a couple degrees of timing into one of my cars before the run, my cars didn’t give me any trouble, and we got home in one piece, but hot and tired. Hope to bring the Mercury next year.

We got home around 5pm., what a great day. I'm wiped out...

Let me be the 1st to say this years WI Hot Rod 100 was over the top! The route was really nice (except the last few miles, seems the small signs marking the streets don't agree with the street names, but we got there anyway).

Really nice roads, really pretty, curvy "Rustic" scenery. Great day, both the starting point and the end point were great shops. Big win on this one guys!
Already looking forward to next year!

Just to echo what 67drake and Gene have already said, and it was GREAT! Ronnie, Angela and Neal set the bar pretty high on this one. From the weather, shops, route, cars and people it was a winner! Pictures are coming! Battery took a crap in the camera so I didn't get as many as I wanted.

The place where we started also built custom 359 Peterbilts which I still have a soft spot for. IMG_0001.JPG IMG_0040.JPG IMG_0041.JPG IMG_0042.JPG IMG_0046.JPG IMG_0043.JPG IMG_0044.JPG

Thanks to all of you that organize this too!
Just ask my wife how much I’ve been looking forward to it. Today I start all the projects I’ve been putting off around the house. :)
Big thumbs up on the meal at the end too. I opted for the pulled pork with slaw over it. Just what I needed, as I scrambling, so kinda missed having a good breakfast.

  23. We missed you very much. Next year, Lord willing.

Hey Neal, looks like a nice ride! At first I was afraid you got rid of the 39.

  28. It was 40°F and the '39 Tiptoed out of bed, hoping it was the 3rd Saturday in May.

Disappointed, with cold toes, but a warm heart, she rolled back to bed.
However, 17 May 2025 will be here before you know it, mark your calendar now!
