Walking Hank this morning and I couldn't help noticing how many Japanese Maple trees we have on my street, deep maroon leaves among all the greenery. The only car that came to mind in these colors is this 1903 Autocar, post some photos if you know of others in this color combination.
Have you seen Dale Grau's 32 lakester? The Green Hornet. When I started that car I powder painted the wheels 3004 Burgundy on the RAUL chart. I think I also included some Burgundy leather? He then painted the car a dark green.
The owner of Austin Speed Shop’s 32 roadster has a dark burgundy paint and dark green leather upholstery. Looks great. https://ironandsteele.com/blogs/news/john-joyos-1932-ford-roadster
A couple shots of the car in question - taken at the 2022 Gopher State Timing Association show in St. Paul MN. It seems he has a different, fresh Deuce build in that show pretty much every year!
NO! Just want to see how the combination works, the '32 above looks great. For some strange reason I'm wearing a maroon sweat shirt and green flannel shirt today.
I looked at those photos and then it dawned on me, that's me tartan colors! And a plaque in my bar I made to display some bag tags from courses I have played. Never thought of using these colors on a car. Tartan interior inserts on green leather. Yummm. Hickory wood accents, dark leather wrapped steering wheel. Maybe old Mashie club head brake and clutch pedals? I need to build another car...with a club door.
That is a really nice way of displaying the tag collection. Playing 18 holes of golf has been on my Bucket List for years. Walking around the 18th green at Pebble Beach among the cars is as close as I've come so far.
Thanks man, I agree with you on the colors. They do work together. You should see my pool table cover if you like that!
Too close to red and green which could limit a Cars respect except of course around Christmas. And maroon has always been brownish for me. It is after all an English corruption of the French word for chestnut so I’m more into Burgundy. Although I once got a hole in one (and not on a mini golf course) and once won a putting contest for cash amongst eighty co-workers my view on golf aligns with Robin Williams’s explanation on how it was created. Anytime I see a beautiful golf course I always think it would be a great place for a car show!
