Decided to make the dash panel from steel..Fits like a glove and slightly curved the ends to blend in...Im thinking of bonding it adhesive... 14171AD0-E44C-45C0-AABE-6FF43FF93426.jpeg

IMG_1427.jpeg Put a new front seal in my power steering pump. Good so far. I ran it in the garage for a few minutes and bled the air out of the system.

Ordered a new shifter and requested information regarding dry ice blasting and it's potential cost. Big wup...

  6. I glued thick cork gaskets together and trimmed the drippers on these bbc M/Ts and ordered new stainless bolts for the extra depth needed.

  7. Well they clear the rockers

    20240514_153143.jpg

    Barely clear the blower intake

    20240514_145835.jpg

And the rear breather just makes contact with the throttle cable bracket, but I think the valve covers sealed before contact

Finished up the first carburetor. One down one to go. Then two more so I’ll have spares for long road trips. IMG_1621.jpeg

Waiting on parts so I cleaned out the nasty parts washer. You can't get much more fundamental than that.

Today the valve train went together. Geometry looks good annd nothing is rubbing or binding. Next up is Intake being port matched and cleaned up. We will then lock in the girdles, check the lash, look to make sure everything stayed where it was supposed to, and bolt the valve covers and intake on. She will be ready to go to the dyno for break in and power tweaking.

I collected bugs with the windshield. My Friday sales calls are smaller shops in the north metro so I end up close to home at the end of the day. It turned out to be a nice day so I swung by the house and grabbed the ‘58 . I got to drive around in the truck for the better part of the day and get paid to boot!

  18. I put the engine in my '29AA Thursday. Took most of the day but it's in. Now to attach everything, wire it, plumb it, hook up the new driveline, paint it, get a top and glass in it, something to cover the seat springs. I don't think I can get all that this summer. If I can just wire it enough to run in, I'll be satisfied.
Oh, and if you know the shorter replacement to a NAPA Gold 1515 oil filter, pass it along. I'm a quarter inch from the frame with the present filter installed. I need more room to remove it without hitting the frame - and I'm not cutting the frame to accommodate the dang oil filter removal.

  19. Got the majority of the sanding of my roof for epoxy primer done. Couple passes with 180 and 320 along with sanding the exposed paint then tape up and prime tomorrow. Hope to have it in color Sunday IMG_20240517_203215.jpg

WIX 51085 is a short filter for a Ford/Chrysler application. AC DELCO PF 53 is a even smaller version.

  22. Thanks. I'll check it out and also consider jhansen's solution. No felines will be harmed in considering alternatives to skinning this cat.

Well skipped a few days in the upholstery saga. Top, headliner and trim done down to window sills, original seats and interior panels going back in. The celabration here is it’s off the trailer and back on the chassis. Got a little more wiring and some fenders and doors to hang and shoot, it’ll almost be done and right on the 50 year anniversary. 264BB34A-107D-4F89-912A-0CD223D80C67.jpeg F04E0857-7F2D-4EDB-B74A-48CB59B3A2AE.jpeg

IMG_1506.jpeg IMG_1512.jpeg IMG_1510.jpeg IMG_1517.jpeg IMG_1513.jpeg IMG_1518.jpeg The town up the road was having their first cruise in of the year. Fire department/EMS had a fundraiser hotdog and burger night. So I sat down behind my car and ate one of each. My buddy who runs the cruise in, well my wife babysits his grandson, so we bought a little ole car for him too!
