Taking a moment to introduce myself, I am from Western Washington (Seattle area). Just joined the “52-59” group. This is my 1952 Customline Coupe. Previous owner named her “Jade”, even had personalized plates! Picked it up last year (end of 2022), was in a garage for a while, “restored” in the late 80s/90s… And she is pretty much been my “Daily” for a while now. She’s pretty clean for a 70 year old, but of course… also a little shabby. What I call 50/50 (looks perfect from 50 feet or 50 mph). Flathead was rebuilt at some point, interior was also redone. I have been slowly getting her reliable, and making some personal touches. Back in High School (late 80s), I wanted a 50s car. So, this is it! Current plans are to customize her a bit, have a 1954 Chevy grille to install. Speaking of which, anyone done that swap on a 1952? The parking light holes are gonna have to go. Debating whether to fill, or swap 1954 fenders.
Welcome, like your 52! I am from Oregon but spent ALOT of time in the Seattle area in the last 30 years. Enjoyed seeing the picture with*****'s, my favorite burger stop in Seattle.
Thanks all! I kinda reactivated my HAMB just to join this group! If anyone is looking for 1952-1954 Ford and especially Mercury stuff… I found a “Honey Hole” between Seattle and Portland. Lots of little stuff, NOS and decent used. I grabbed some small stuff for my 1952 about a week ago.
Like Stig said, I know nothing about '52-'54 except they look really good, as does yours. Welcome from Texas.
Welcome. Nice car..If you are looking for something to do, Shoreline cars and coffee...Every Saturday rain or shine 8 AM to 10AM 15323 Westminster Way N. Shoreline, WA. China Super Buffet parking lot. Usually a great turnout . and usually coffee
Thanks shortshift! I'll check it out! I usually go to RTC, Griots, and events at The Shop in SoDo. Now that***X is gone, been looking for new spots.
THANKS FOR THE WARM WELCOME! Is there a tech sticky for '52-'54 stuff? I have learned a ton about these cars in the short time I've owned mine!
I sped through the FAQ sticky. Have a few items that look very helpful! Also, will try to contribute if I can as far as stuff I have learned (differences between 52, 53, 54... some tech, I have a 1954 chevy grille with 10 teeth I plan to install, etc). Keep in mind, I still run a flathead!
My experience here has been that if you ask a question of those on this forum you will mostly get serious, knowledgeable replies from someone who has already been there and tried that. I also am on some 55 to 56 Ford forums and when you ask a question there people don't read your question but chime in anyway, like "well, when I had my 55 Chevy I used......." and really not helpful replies. The FAQ pages here are great and if you don't get a reply it is because no one has an answer to your question. Pictures are also VERY helpful.
I appreciate that! Generally, I say "How hard can it be"... and tackle anything and everything. Having someone else that has been there before is always very helpful! Hopefully I can contribute as well.
to A.D.D, I have a 52' Crestline Victoria and am interested in the honeyhole your talking about. I too live in WA. on the east side. I like your car, I had a 53' club coupe that I sold awhile back, wish I would have kept the car but we've all heard that before.
He's in Battleground. Used to be a Ford and Mercury parts business. The owner passed, and the neighbor has been selling parts. I saw the ad on Craigslist or FB marketplace. Very nice gentleman, I ended up with a lot of small bits for my '52. I will try to find his info. Was there last February or so...
