Hey Ben, I would but have been told by my wife that I can’t do side work anymore. Actually, after having a co-workers 67 C10 for almost a year just to get it running, I told her to stop me any time I even consider doing side work since it takes me forever anymore. I am behind on everything around the house and have been terrible about taking on work that keeps that the case over the years. I’m kind of at that stage that I am trying to just get caught up on too many projects both house and car related.
Wow, I've also read your posts over the years and mostly shook my head in agreement and thought This guy's opinion is one to believe. I'm impressed with the youth and talent shown. I was always glad to see your posts but with the backstory, a new level of respect is due. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
You all are too kind. I was just a goofball kid that liked to paint. And, all my buddies liked getting cheap paint jobs. I still remember one Saturday hanging out with a friend that had an all white 69 Charger. He was commenting how it seemed kind of plain. We were at another buddies house who’s dad had a hemi 69 RT car with original paint. So, I told him we should just copy the stripe and paint it on his car. So, we did…that same day…and for free. Seemed like I was always doing stuff like that being the painter in a group of mostly mechanics and/or street racers.
Very nice work,,love the flames, Ive seen the Nason product advertised,,never tried it..my go to past 15 years been TCP global acrylic urethane ..Cheap, lays down great, shine and very durable.. This is just a wet coat to freshen up my daily…only used 1/3 of gallon…
Painting is something you do for the joy of creating. Your work looks like it has brought a lot of joy to others and hopefully yourself. No matter how amazing the pictures and vehicles look (which they all do), the true painter knows every little detail that they feel they could have done better. And there always is something. My paint booth isn’t ready yet and my wife thinks I should paint the front end of a car we are practically giving away to help someone out. It will bug me for a long while if I do an outside paint job on it, but it will make the car a 10. Not a Bo Derek 10, more like a 10 footer. Keep doing what you love, you’re doing great.
Yes sir I'd say so. Being single stage all it needs is hardener and some reducer and spray away. Now let me warn you..make sure you cover up anything(including yourself) that you don't want over spray and sticky on for rest of your life Ha!
Lol...reminds me of a time when I was in high school and painted some synthetic enamel in my parents garage just to paint a pickup camper top. It was red and so was my hair and the floor until my hair grew out and I sanded the floor. I understand what you mean about covering stuff, but none of this new stuff is as bad as whatever that was that I shot almost 40 years ago.
100% agree. One of the first full paints I helped my father with was Ful-thane and was Hemi orange...I had a sock and respirator on but no eye protection. Made the mistake of rubbing my eyes while we were cleaning up and my eye lashes were so sticky from the paint they glued together and I flipped out
