Well, Since Bonneville was rained out, we decided to take the Old Crow out to ElMO for the day and take her on a maiden voyage run. She ran great !, but we forgot to bring the extra quickchange gear sets, and realized that we need a different ratio. OH well. I guess we'll have to go back. Darn. haha. Our buddy Coop came along and shot some great pics. Here is the link: http://positiveapeindex.blogspot.com/2006/10/big-day-at-el-mirage.html .
It looks like someone is jumping for joy in that pic. Congratulations... I can't wait to see it in person one day. Can you just go out into the desert and drive around like that?
Holy Shit that RULED>..Where was I? Dammit...I can't wait to take a spin HHahahaaha Fucker. BAD ASS....
That video is AWESOME! The sound of that HAL pulling off is just spell binding. Once again, belly tank + banger = BITCHIN" Thanks for sharing that with us mere mortals.
Bobby, Awesome! That's the only word to describe it!!!!!!! Man, I hope to be doing it @ some point this decade. When did you guys take mthe ride out there??? I wish I'd of known because I'd loved to have experienced it. Are you going out again B4 the 22nd?. If so pm me so I can go for a visual and possibly be of some help.
as far as time machines go, your car has way more style than a delorean that car is so badass. if you had a '40 ford with a wood bumper as your push car and a good b/w camera nobody would be able to tell those pictures were taken in 2007. i think im going to have to make it out to el mirage just to see it run. good luck
Thanks everybody.... It's rewarding to hear kind words from your peers. Almost as rewarding as hearing that banger. In case the video doesn't play, here is a direct link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6362765766868854115 .
Here are a couple shots I took. That was a fun day indeed. Bobby after his second run...This is how it feels after four years of building a race car.
man that thing is awesome, its a work of art... and to see it rolling over the desert damn...... Tuck
"Can you just go out into the desert and drive around like that?" Yes,,as long as you're not out there ripping up the desert floor(lakebed). That first picture looks like its right out of the 50s....awesome.
Congrats Bobby and thanks for sharing that milestone day in the life of your tanker. Gotta also say that thats also the first time I've seen a car in a trailer look so good. Mike
That's a C17. They were testing an alternative fuel on one of them here. Some bio fuel the military is messing with. It's not liking it too well yet and now they are passing it on to somewhere else to play with. Loved the pics and you had to of had anchors to keep you at ground level out there on the lakebed that day!! Looked so cool even in the trailer! Thanks for sharing it all! Deb
The fruits of your labor look pretty fucking sweet Bob. Give Drew and Bismarck a kiss for me, especially Bismarck. R
