Ok, Ever notice the ring in a Bull's nose? You take this five foot long pole into a pen that holds the bull and walk up to him and grab the ring in his nose ( what could possibly go wrong) then lead him to where you want him to be.
Would you demonstrate that for me a couple of times, then I'll give it a try..... This reminds me of a "when I was a kid" story... My parents were friends with an older (in their '70s) couple that lived a couple of miles up the road. The "Mr." was about 5'2" and weighed about 160 lb. (kind of rotund) and had a breeding bull that took care of my Dad's cows when needed. This bull was a horn-intact brute with a nutsack about the size of my head. He must have weighed about 1200 pounds. Always scared the fuck out of me!! His name was Oscar, and when it was time to round him up so he could perform his manly duty, ole Fred would walk to the fence and call him, and that damned thing would come running full tilt. Fred would open the gate and Oscar would follow him around like a puppy dog. Damnedest thing I've ever seen.
Remember that joke? Young bull says lets run down there and take care of a couple of those heifers. Old bull says lets walk down there and take care of all of em.
The owner of a local sale barn told a story about an older gentleman who bought a bull into the sale one day in a pickup with stock racks . The pickup was shaking all over when he stopped to unload. The old man stepped out of his pickup, reached up and yanked on a small rope and the bull then froze. The guy then lifted up the tailgate and the bull calmly walked out of the pickup and down the alley way . The rope was around his scrotum . I asked Bill how did the guy get the rope around the bill’s scrotum ? Bill replied I don’t know . None of us asked we were all just dumbfounded cause we hadn’t ever seen anything like that .
Tonight I was dismantling a trailer that my dad built years ago. The axle under it has Ford grease caps, but I have no idea what it is from. Before I sell this thing by the pound, do any of you know what it is from, and if I should keep it around? The springs, shackles, and mounts appear to be original to the axle. I can't quite figure out why it appears to have steering knuckles, but the "tie rod" is bolted to the center of the main casting.
Part of today’s treasure from the swap meet. I did a google search, and found another one, but they didn’t know what it was either. It is about 2.5 inches in diameter. It has a great space age look, with a red V in the background and a 4 point star at the bottom reminiscent of a 55 meteor grille ornament. It is cool, and was a throw in with a bunch of other stuff. If we figure out what it is, that would even be better.
Looks like a great item! I haven't seen one myself, but did find some information that might help identify it. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/217182-1949-ford-mercury-custom-clock-delete/ Discussion Topic: 1950 Deluxe Clock Delete https://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/viewmessages.cfm?forum=18&topic=9198
A mighty haul this weekend. Got these boat seats at a rummage sale for 10 bucks, the vinyl pattern is really cool, they look like a Marlboro cigarette package. There's enough vinyl here to cut up and sew together into a seat, maybe for my '34 project, maybe to replace the seat base in my '57 currently covered in a Nativity scene blanket. Some trinkety stuff, the best probably being the pinup ash tray from a nearby small town. And my best rummage sale purchase in a really long time, this 40 inch wide porcelain Whitman's Chocolates sign. I've been a bit incredulous when I hear people finding stuff like this at a rummage sale, usually all I find is baby clothes and shit from Target 10 years ago. But a find like this keeps me stopping. Paid 50 bucks. Some lady was looking at it when I got there, as soon as she stepped away far enough for me to reach for it I grabbed it and paid for it right away, didn't even try to negotiate. That was plenty cheap.
Picked these up this weekend, a matched pair for once. Would love to know what they are from. Long term would like to use them even if I have to build the lights from scratch.
