there are quite a few companies that will....but which one to use, might depend on the condition of the car, and what you use it for, etc. We can only guess those things.
Hagerty has been my go to. Never had to make any claims. Had a buddy who had to and they were very standup.
Rates are always important, but keep in mind that rates are directly tied to coverages and possible exclusions. The big print giveth, the small print taketh away. Spoken from my 25yrs of being an insurance agency owner. Best wishes on your search!
I use Hagerty but have several cars on it all at stated value. The first one on the policy is the only one that costs much. All the others add almost nothing.
I’ve used Hagerty for years. I’ve never had to file a claim, so can’t really comment on how they are, other than the rates seem fair. I’ve used their towing services plenty. I use them for my truck, my wife’s truck, our camper and my Harley.
if you don't drive your car much and only need liability State Farm has super cheap rates. I pay like 30 bucks a year on my 61 Dodge, just to keep it registered and in the system.
I swapped to Hagerty from Intact on their collector policy. Hagerty was almost twice the price. You need to look at there coverage when deciding on the value. My old policy only allowed use for Shows/or car functions absolutely no daily driving. Summers are short in Canada so I like using my old cars for the shows but also just around town daily stuff. I realized I was definitely in violation of the coverage and didn’t want to put it to the test explaining how my car got hit in a Costco parking lot. Hagerty on the other had had very few restrictions. They are okay with using the car for sunny day regular transportation. Definitely more expensive but allows me full use of the cars with out fear of be in “violation” of my coverage Preschool drop off is more fun in a Hotrod then the wife’s SUV
whenever I read Hagerty's conditions, I decide they won't cover me...I use mine for way more than sunny day occasional drives. so I just have liability with my main car/home insurance company. In all the decades of not having comprehensive insurance, I've only spent about $1000 to fix a car from a wreck that was my fault. I've saved untold thousands in premiums.
I've had Grundy on my '37 sedan for about 20 years. One claim. It was flawless, and I expected my rate to increase, but stayed the same. Also have a friend who had a Grundy claim. It was painless for him also. In my mind, the way they handle a claim, is more important than cost.
The triple A has had my OT and home for years. I now use their Classic Car for my 56. Good luck there are good ones out there.
Been using Hagerty for so long I can't remember. I have had 3 claims and they took great care of me all 3 times. They would really have to do something out of character for me to change.
Restrictions on milage and when and where you can drive are a big consideration. If you work and drive to work you had best have a licensed and insured later model daily driver drive to work car in your name even if it isn't insured with the same company or agent. You can bet that there are people with those big name classic car insurers who's job is to run insured people's names through the system to see if they do own other vehicles that are in the "legit drive to work every day" bracket. I had stated value on my 48 years ago but they also insured my daily driver drive to work car with full coverage at the time. I don't own anything that runs that is worth carrying anything except liability on right now. I didn't may much for any of them and what the other guys insurance paid for the box with wheels I was driving when I got rear ended by the garbage truck bought a nicer ride to drive and paid for some things it needed at the time.
I have used Grundy for 15 years. I currently have five cars insured, including an O/T later model Corvette. Agreed value, no mileage restrictions, and reasonable rates. I had one claim several years ago and they were great. The adjuster visited my body shop of choice and actually noted some older paint damage that they included in the repairs!
My old stuff has just liability through my regular car/home insurance. My son had his 57 Dodge wagon covered as a classic car under his regular car insurance for an agreed value. The car got damaged, and he had to call the State Insurance Commissioner 2 times before he got the amount they had agreed the value of the car was. Low cost pails quickly when you have to fight them to get what they agreed to pay when you have a claim. I also strongly suggest you check the covered value with each renewal. Many companies reduce the covered amount with every renewal. After a few years, you may think your still well covered, only to find out the company has been reducing the covered amount every year it was renewed. Don't trust what some agent says, what your current policy says is what you have. Last years policy amounts don't mean anything after that policy expires.
I use American National aka ANPAC very good rates, agreed value on collector cars, and hot rods. I just had a claim and it was paid three days after I submitted the estimate.
