Well, I put 10 miles on it today! Im thinking its done enough for the summer, paint it next year. Man, can this thing take a corner!
Well, it was a nice day, so I took some good pics of it. I hope you guys like it so far. Tonight I will install the interior, and then it done for now.
Windshield is awesome! maybe just Clear it and drive the BeJesus out of it! Is that a Model A treefort in the background? Really cool ,!
The 4 inch chromoly is the frame. It is a loose model of a real cobra frame, they were large tube like that.
When it gets painted, it will not be red on the outside. The plan is black and white with a red interior. Not sure if the wheels will stay red, or have them powder coated silver. silver.
Painted one years ago the body is a mix of steel & aluminum panels, were any all aluminum? Really like that windshield. Bob
I dont believe that any were all aluminum, but I am no expert. The windshield is my favorite part. Its amazing that it is original equipment on these cars.
As I drive it more, I am tempted to leave it in raw metal for quite some time and just drive the wheels off of it.
Found some old pictures of Shelby's AH race car, in Mexico. Blue and white being Americas unofficial racing colors in the 50's
I totally get the potential, of it being painted at some point in the future. But there is something that is totally honest about its appearance, being bare metal as it is right now. It gives it a "Rebel/Renegade" look, that doesn't quite translate to it being painted! JMHO. As far as painting the wire wheels silver or even going as far as to having them chromed, I would not do that. There is something that appeals to me by leaving them red. The red matches the interior, and the red is a lot easier to keep clean with out having to worry too much about the appearance. Again JMHO. That little bad ass machine, is meant to be driven, and in a manner that it doesn't have to worry about its appearance! Thanks from Dennis.
But it looks unfinished especially compared to the beautiful chassis. Chrome the wheels! It’s a classy car keep it that way!
Hey @JimSibley and @SS327 Two different opinions, two different paths, towards two different goals, that lead to an appreciable end, all compounded in one very cool creation! While still being a hot, fast, agile, little machine, that is very unique! "Everyone's results may vary"
Well that settles it you have to build another one so you’ll have one raw and one painted. An awesome build and I’ll like it either way. Dan
