Our 58 Ford pickup has really cool Chrome side view mirror brackets that are made to accept a stud for a ball swivel Style mirror. I have these larger 8x10 tab mount style mirrors that I want to retrofit to the bracket but they are made for a side Bolt style. I have not been able to find any 8x10 ball swivel style mirrors in all of my searching so I'm throwing out the technical question on suggestions for adapting the mirror to become the ball stud Style mount. I have a couple ideas including modifying a heim joint but I don't want it to look too Frankenstein either. Do you have any thoughts? Thank you

Thank you, Johnny. I have been considering those although they are smaller at 5x7. I would like to use the bigger mirror because I pull a trailer from time to time
I wouldn't go too big unless you can clearly see over the tops of them. That is a lot of blocked vision.
If you want JY parts - or can afford the OEM-hit(!), if you can find a city-bus-JY, get the mirrors from a Gillig bus. Either the dr-side, or curb-side use a single ball-on-a-stud(straight out the back of the ball, no 45*-90* stuff). Kinda large, but iirc, the mounting stud was only ~3/8: dia. Ball maybe5/8" dia. The ball mounted into 2 slightly-formed plates, that had 3 screws to tighten for adjustability-holding. Worked ok on a bus, even at 65mph. & those were large mirrors, smaller than California PU mirrors, but heavier. The older buses had thin-body mirrors, similar to yours, the late(er) buses had thick plastic bodies that had electric adjusters & maybe heated mirrors. Dr-side had flat mirror, curb-side had convex. The ball n plates are all you want. It'd take a bit of eyeball-engineering, but I think you could mount it on the back of your mirrors, & make a small cover to hide the ball-adjuster device. I would guess that the reason you don’t see big ball mount mirrors is they catch wind and don’t stay adjusted.
I agree with BJR. I have a set of the 5" x 7" ball mount mirrors on my 49. Doesn't take much of a bump for them to move a bit. Can't imagine a larger sized mirror being as good as the smaller ones that move easily enough to cause some irritation on rough roads.
I put a set about the same size on an OT Chevy truck that had stock round tube brackets that bolted to the door with three bolts. The stock round mirrors were about 4" diameter. They fit fine but when you got going down the road the wind made them shake so much they were virtually unusable. Had to buy a set with brackets made for a bigger mirror head. Make sure your brackets are stout enough to prevent this.
