I saw this Primative Pete cartoon in 6th grade around 1970. It was still being used but I'm not sure why the district would have shown it to us.
Well, to teach kids how to use hand tools properly. Many men still don't know these basics. The modern prevalence of electric tools makes it worse.
Classic. Last time I saw this was mid 70's Auto Shop class in High School. Our shop teacher was an absolute stickler for using the right tool for the job and would call you Primitive Pete if he saw you misusing tools, lol. He showed us some good shortcuts with the most basic of tools. Never seen anyone wrench as fast as him. Saw him remove a fender from a friend's Mustang via ratchet in a couple of minutes. This was exclusively to let the class have a better view of a front suspension during a lecture on suspension/steering.
