Just turned on the news at 11. Lead story was Albany Saratoga Speedway property is going to be developed into housing, multi-use, and shopping. The track will be closed either the end of this year or next year, depending on approvals.

This track has been there for 6 decades, and has seen some of the greatest modified drivers over the years. I guess I'm not surprised, there's 50 acres that must be worth millions of dollars to the owners.

    What a shame

Bummer. We’re losing our local dirt track, too, Eastbay. It isn’t in the best location for development so who knows what happen on the land. The Tampa Bay area was a hot bed for oval and drag racing and big part of the winter racing scene for late models, open wheel modifieds and sprints/ midgets. All the remaining tracks here are all paved.

My Pop and I spend a few Great evenings at Malta ( Albany/Saratoga) in my formative years. Fonda and Fair Haven were also on our list and many years later our whole family went there along with the trek to Lebanon Valley for some of their special events. Sad times for sure, Carp.
