Hey folks! I just got back from this “First Annual” Hill Climb Race put on by Ford A Speed Technology http://hotforhotfours.com up in Virginia City, Nevada, and since I live right at the bottom of the hill I figured I could get my ****py cellphone video (it’s actually pretty decent) “coverage” out here for you folks to enjoy on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway, I hope y’all enjoy the sounds of these honestly pretty quick little hotrods! And the little “whoop” at mid track made for some spirited driving. Anyway, awesome, if not super low-key little event, and I hope they’ll come back next year. Thanks! Casey
I didn’t take many pictures, but I did sort of “geek out” on Justin Martin’s (out of Fresno) T Roadster. Absolute perfection, if you ask me. Tag him if he’s on here.
Yeah, it’s pretty dumb. They could have moved them down a block, but they wanted the end of the “track” to be seen from one of the businesses. Politics…
I was not aware of this event. In the future , they could post a flyer at the Summit Warehouse store. Vic
They did have a flyer, Vic, and Virginia City posted it on their Social Media, but it wasn’t well-promoted.
I don’t imagine they’re going to start promoting it better, but the website for the organizer is up in the top post. I’m gonna guess there’s a mailing list you guys could get on. Would love to see you guys up there next year.
Not only does Justin’s roadster look right, it’s darn quick. I didn’t stay for results Saturday but Justin was quickest flathead at the Auburn hill climb last month. Andy
This is the same FAST fellas that have been running hill climbs in Auburn for the last 20+ years, just the first event in VC. It was way cool! VC was awesome and the bump wasn’t too bad… it was the prospector and his mule that caused the most panic!!! He walked onto the track right after one of the cars took off and caused four flat spots and a brown stripe! Nobody realized we would be up at 6300’ elevation till it was too late. Low compression and a wild cam doesn’t do well up that high… oh well! It wuz fun! And I didn’t blow it up!
Crazycasey , Thank you for the clarification . As their first annual , I am sure the organization will build off the inaugural event. Vic
I saw him run a 9.59 just before lunch, and the next fastest flatty was still in the 10’s. Were you driving or just spectating, Andy? I was from Santa Rosa once upon a time. Well, it sounds like you caught some of the local flavor. Glad everybody was ok. Yeah, the elevation really is something. Especially this time of year when the temps are high, too. Now is FAST ***ociated with the Santa Barbara guys at all? I want a V8 cl***! Might be the motivation I need to get the roadster done… I hope so, Vic. I think the name created some confusion with the locals, because of the more known Porsche Club event. I know it did for me at first…
