Does anyone have experience in using one of the offshore made aluminum radiators for 35/35 Ford with a flathead? Amazon pricing is compelling when a new copper/br*** replacement is $1400, and a local recore is 500-700. Thanks for any input, and yes, I would not be all that thrilled with the look of an aluminum rad vs stock, but I do have budget limitations.
Engine paint also works great to make them blend in better. I'd make sure the import radiator doesn't have epoxied cores and they are welded. I've got a '32 Ford import aluminum radiator in my '39 Chev and seems to be just fine, but it's only been a few years now.
A '36 Ford radiator has a mount on top that locates the front hood hinge mount and there is a bunch of front end stuff that depends on that location. It can be done with a radiator that doesn't have that, like the China ones, but it is a pain in the ***. I'm glad I got mine before the whole hot rod copper radiator thing went to ****. Good luck, -Abone.
