Del Mar IS a killer show! Goodguys actually encourages cruising at all of their events.

Me and Flower are members as well. I'm not surprised to see this many "subscribers".

I subscribed last year and let that subscription run out in June and won't re-up until the coupe is rolling. Then I'll resubscribe to abuse the entry fee discount. I do miss the magazine. Many have mentioned the photos, but no one has mentioned the SIZE of the photos. I love the oversized pages that allow for larger photos.

My brother is a GG from Iowa and has talked me into going to the Des Moines GG next year. They have cruizing in their show as well, but better then that, the cruizing runs late into the night and they finish the night off with fireworks.

It all depends on when you subscribed in relation to the ship date. The next issue (December) will ship the first week of November. If you don't have it by the middle of the month let me know.

Went to the U.S. National Drags at Indianapolis til the mid-70's. Went to Goodguys, Indy 5-6 years ago and the drags were like time stood still! I was thrilled. Since then they get rain every year and I quit driving so far just to get rained out. The membership is worth it. I take 4 grandkids to Des Moines every year and even though there aren't a lot of "our" rods there, there is still enough to look at.

I've been a member for over 15 years. Never thought I was gettin' ripped off. I like the magazine (particularly page 16) and all the event coverage. It's a lot better now with color pictures. I've been to every DelMar and Scottsdale show so far, and hope to keep doin' so for a long time. Thanks KIRK! and all the GG staff for a fun time! Just changed my reservations for Scottsdale so I can attend the Thursday functions this year.

I think Goodguy Gary's intention to leave NSRA and establish an inexpensive organization for the rodders, got a little blown out of perspective. I have belonged to Goodguys and NSRA since the late 80s and enjoy both. Is Goodguys inexpensive..............I don't think so, but Gary was the risk taker and he made a very lucrative business as well as a venue for me to enjoy a more diverse menu of vehicles. I make the most out of the event and look at the vehicles that wind my watch, and their are many. The only thing that I have ever expected from my entree fee is fun, and I have plenty of that. I like Indy because IRP is a special place, yep, I'll always call it IRP, and I hope that the Vintage Drag Racing Assoc. doesn't die on the vine. The Gazzette, good read and getting better, I dispise the size of it and always will.

  13. I've been a member for over 10 years. Yeah, the magazine has gotten a lot better lately. It used to be mainly black and white on newsprint, but now it's got a lot of glossy color pictures of really nice cars, and nice articles. Not so much of the billet, and more of the old school. They do a nice job putting it together. I think it's worth being a member just for the Goodguys Gazette, but it has some other benefits too, like being a member of a car club gives you a discount when you buy collector's car insurance. You get a discount when you enter their car shows. They're mostly a good group of guys. There's still always going to be some snotty rich guys who buy their cars pre-made to their specs who won't give you the time of day, but the majority of them are nice regular car guys. I always have fun at Goodguys shows.

The shows at Pleasanton (California) are usually really nice. I don't know about today though, it's raining! I'll go tomorrow though.

i have been a g.g.member for 15 or 16 years as well as being a g.g. rep for the last 6 or 7 years. we need a place for all us gearheads to meet, and i have always been thankful that goodguys and nsra provides those places for us. there are all kinds of cars and trucks at these events. i say check out the ones you like, walk by the ones that you don't like, and enjoy it all.

Been a GG Member since 1994 and have been a traditional rodder way before that. Been lucky to take in several events across the country. Like our favorite bars, there is something there for everyone. The GG people (guys like Kirk who I have met, John D, Ed C, Gary, 40studedude, etc) are REAL rodders and appreciate and respect the trad rod scene.

They respect our sport's roots and as evidenced by Kirk and his work in the Gazette, that trad rods are the foundation for our sport and lifestyle.

I recommend that you go to an event and gather in the kool cars, trucks, bikes, old race cars and drag cars and most of all, go bench racing with some of rodding and drag racing's real guys...not the gold chains that everyone thinks is the there. Sure, they are there to a certain extent, but REAL rodders simply nod and go on to the cars and people that are the HEART of our sport.

I joined Goodguys to go to the Waukesha Show.
In the four years it has been here I've won twice.
Rodders rep pick and this year Classic Trucks Top 10.
Page 103 of the current Gazette
The magazine is well worth the price of joining in my opinion.

I'm lost here......some say you have to "join/subscribe" and others say you don't.

I went to GG Columbus and aside from the mega entry price, I REALLy enjoyed all the rods......quite a variety!

We plan on attending nex summer, do I need to "join?"

You don't HAVE to join. But if you do you get 12 issues of the Gazette and can register for shows early.

I went to the Autumn get together in Pleasanton today and it was a good show. There was definitely a bit too much billet on some of the rides, but there were plenty of great looking traditional rods and customs to see as well. Nice vibe too - everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I am not a member and it was $30 to register my car which included entry for me and my 3 kids so the price wasn't all that bad for a full day of drooling on cars.

I've been a Goog Guy member for many years as well as an NSRA member. It's a better show circuit than the NSRA as far as I'm concerned, being more participant/spectator friendly. The Goodguy's Gazette alone makes it worth the yearly dues. The NSRA monthly Street Scene is a giant dealer catalog with a few small, non worded, pics of cars.....ugly cars...just my opinion........Mike

I beg to differ, you did a good job too!! I especially like the rodders rep write up you did on me ;)

I'm a member and a state rep, they have treated me a lot better than when I was a saftey inspector for another organization.

I go to Goodguys Columbus and Indy every year, they are two of my favorite shows, each show has a different feel. The Gazette has really picked up as of late and become an enjoyable read.
