Does anyone know if the bolt circle for bolting the pressure plate to the flywheel is the same between the flatheads and off topic Mopar V8's I'm putting an A833 overdrive behind my 230 and I want know about buying the clutch and pressure plate together. Thanks.
might help to know what 230 you have, ie. year? car or truck? light or heavy duty? but this should help you figure it out. The Borg Warner clutch catalog, 1993
Yes, it would be nice to know...for me also. I have a 58 engine based upon the serial number, I have to ***ume the flywheel came with it since the 218 flywheel from the orig engine wouldn't work. I'll go with that. Thanks for posting the information. It looks like "maybe" is the best answer. I'll need to keep looking I guess. See if I can find the specs on any of these to see what's different.
measure the size of the clutch disc impression on the flywheel (unless it's been ground already?) to get the diameter. And you can order a clutch set from a local parts store and bring your flywheel in and see if it fits before you buy. The more info you provide, such as picture of your flywheel, etc, the more helpful we can be.
I know what the clutch in the truck is, that's not going to be used though. I'll be using a 10.5 inch clutch (because it's been done and don't need 11 inch) with 23 splines to match the transmission. The only real question is the bolt pattern for the pressure plate. I guess I'll just have to pull the old transmission before I buy the pressure plate.
