Robert I’m a fan of the redram hemi and have two one in my 32 cabriolet and one waiting on the stand. I don’t have a measurement for the pins but can machine up a pair for ya. @silent rick might have the dimensions as well as he’s the redram aficionado.. IMG_0627.jpeg

McMaster Carr has just about any diameter and length steel dowel you could want.

Yes sir that is exactly what I need, I can enlarge the holes in the heads but I’d rather put the factory installed size back in , the only difference in the old ones and your drawing is the end is rounded off some , can you make me 4 new ones ,I appreciate your help greatly, When you get done mail them to Robert Graves 450 Antioch church rd Alvaton ky 42122 and let me know what I owe you , thanks again

They do not just locate the head. They keep the s head expanding and contracting to the same rate as the block

I wonder what is going on with that block. My 325 used straight 3/8” dowels. I have never ever seen a stepped dowel. The block was re-machined for something. I hope they did it right.

  17. My DeSoto had the original stepped dowels in it,,,,,I was able to reuse them too .
Here are a couple of pics .

It's been awhile since I've had early hemis, but aren't those dowels shorter than an inch?

Edit: Tommy's excellent pictures show that they really are long...

They measure exactly 1” with 1/2 “ going in the block and the larger 1/2 “ end going in the head

...yea, got the two ass-backwards... don't drill them free hand, use a drill press or a mag drill.

Will this help ya and made the small end .312 as .310 is an odd size and under by .002.
They are made of O-1 and had planned on just grinding them in on a surface grinder in a collet but had a setup in it yet.. image.jpg
