Just thought I would throw a picture out on the car I am building. I'm putting together a 1940's -1950's Track Roadster with the Chin bar side Nerf bars. This picture does not show either of them since I just completed that portion. I would like eveyone's thoughts on a Scallop layout for the car. The colors will be Cola Red with a Vanilla Shake creame color for the scallop. If anyone has old photos or early race cars I would be interested in them.
Having a Track Roadster myself , i am glad to see another one will hit the road soon! What engine??????? Lookin good so far !
Exceptionally Nice Work. Show Us Some Engine & Dash Pictures when you have a Chance. Appreciate you sharing!
Exceptional car. Yep, bias tires needed badly... And the lines you have created on that car are so well thought out. I really wouldn't fight those with scallops. I'd think subtle at this point...
this should be my signature...black on black on black... black steelies, blackwalls, black paint...amen
If you're painting it red and white (cream) you should crib the BeeBee R-1. Baddest golden age air racer ever!
Here's what I did on my track roadster pickup...Poppy Red and a fleet blue sorta close to Washington Blue. Charlie
It has a 290 HP Chevy Crate motor backed with Saginaw 4-speed going back to a Ford 9in. with 3.50 gears. It was pretty tricky to get it all to fit under the hood lines
looks nice, i like how the nose wraps the frame rails and the hood side continues it did you make the nose? personally i think biasply's would look better with some 40 wheels. the aluminum wheels and the track roadster were sort of from 2 different points in time but all that aside your just asking about scallops i think i would go without them. scallops are hard to figure out and make them add to the car. i think alot of times they are used to hide certain aspects or maybe to highlight other aspects when i was thinking about paint for the car im building i decided to leave the nose bare aluminum to sort of showcase the nose and then use the scallop to hide the coupe cowl post since my body didnt start life as a real roadster your car has nice flowing lines all the way back with no need for seperation so in my opinion, i would leave it alone in any case...nice car Zach ...heres mine just for an idea(similar to charlie's)...the same basic layout may look good on your car also if you defonitely want scallops? but im a bit biased
Definitely a nice looking T-ster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try Schlames ala Regg Schlemmer 1st Hot Rod cover car .
I dunno... I think the bias plys and the disk brakes might kinda clash. I'm not being sarcastic in the least either... I think I'd do a single tear-drop shaped scallop surrounding the grill and heading back along the top of the hood... Maybe even all the way back to the trunk lid.
To make the car a little more period correct, I took 1940's Ford backing plates and made them Disc brake covers. I had to relocate the brake down to the 3 o'clock position and re-drill the mounting braket to accomdate that. I then fit the backing plate around the brake caliper. I added a 1 1\2" metal band to the perimeter to cover the actual disc brake. I re-routed the brake line inside so it comes out in the same location as to old one did. I spent a week grinding down the calipers to make them smoother and to help them disappear. Once they all get paint you really won't notice the brake caliper behind everything due to the location. I spent a few weeks making them but they sure beat the aftermarket ones for $400 plus dollars. I will try to get a photo of them so you can see how they turned out.
So how did it turn out? Let see some pics. I know, old thread. But I have a similar track roadster and want to see!
