Oh, and if you like Harleys, there was about 50 of them there including a couple vintage trikes. We saw one bike roll by with Gatling gun turrets spinning and looking cool. Be neat on the right car.

Years ago this event started in the parking lot at Beaches restaurant on the Columbia River in Vancouver. It was for Harleys and Vettes. It outgrew the parking lot and moved to PIR and the rest is history. It still honors the Vettes and Harleys. It used to have a cutoff year in the 70's I think, but there were a lot of late models there night.

If any of you are passing through on I-5 on a Wednesday afternoon, pull off the freeway at exit 306B (like a mile inside Oregon), drive past the tents and pull into the parking lot at the raceway. Join in the fun.

You forgot the part about being at Pearson Air Park before PIR.

I was just getting ready to ask if anyone had heard anything. Asked some of The Beaches staff at the Portland Transmission gig and they hadn’t heard anything at that time. Thanks for the info sir.

  5. Bandit Billy, I made it to one of the Beaches cruises when it was at the restaurant many years ago. I don't remember if there was a year cutoff, but a little bit of everything was there. I drove my Roadster, and went with a group of guys that had Vettes, Hotrods, and Muscle cars. Good time. I also made it to the Ash Bash the same year. Wish I could remember what year it was. Had to be over 25 years ago.

I went to the Ash Bash when it was at Billys Park, think it was in the mid eighties (I think).

My friend owns the '58 Chev panel truck that was parked beside me there, and we were standing in the sun as the shade of that tree made things a little bit cool at our chairs. Probably out looking at cars when you took the picture.

I had heard they found someone to continue the cruise next year, but then someone told me they saw on Beaches Fakebook that this was the last year? So glad it was incorrect info there!

  9. Its a little bit of both, its the last year with Beaches. The restaurant has been sold as the owners are retiring at the end of the year. So its the last year of what that show has always been. It will be under new management and owners next year.

I like Beaches and other events I can meet up with other HAMBers I’ve seen on this site over the years. I’ll be driving the Model A to the LA Roadster’s Show next week. Hope to meet more HAMBers there. Parked almost right next to @Blues4you last year.

I liked hanging with all of ya. I hope we got more occasions. I plan to hit the Woodland Planters Day cruise next Saturday evening. I know it is the same night as Crusin the Couv but that is a F'n parking lot. They don't have permits to block the streets and cars sit in traffic and overheat, it's a spectacle. I hear Woodland has the police blocking off the route and I plan to be there in my roadster...and my wife in her truck if we are lucky. Summer is here. time to play.

It was a very good band, the best I have heard at PIR.

I agree Marty! Most are cover bands but while this one did do their take on take on "Devil goes down to Georgia" they were very entertaining! And I liked the rendition of the rosined up, demonic classic.

Went a few times in the early 90’s when it was held at Clark County. Had a friend with 4 cars and he wanted to show a couple of them. I was the driver.

I miss Ash Bash. For the rest of you, "Ash Bash" was named for the eruption of Mt. St. Helens (just NNE of us that spewed ash all over our cars and ruined quite a many windshield, paintjob and lungs. I remember tying a bandana around my open element air cleaner on my Camaro. But the "Ash Bash"...that is another story. Good times!

The band was good, but still too loud. We had to shout to talk to each other, even behind the stage quite a ways back. Wish they'd turn it down just a little bit.

Yep, we have turned into our parents!
Went to see ZZ Top in the Coliseum (cave) in the early 80's, what a beautiful noise.

Maybe they need a speaker system that can vary the noise level at each one ? That way those that park close to the band won't be subject to the excess.

If they started all the Harleys' you wouldn't hear the band.

Bill, did you see the 63 Plymouth Savoy, Lightweight 426 Wedge. It was one of five , with aluminum hood and fenders, and came out of the Reggie Jackson collection.

They can adjust the sound levels, and have done so in the past when they occasionally got way too loud and the line of people waiting to complain was 10 people long! It wasn't exactly horrible, just a little too loud, so I didn't want to go request the sound to be lowered. And since it was good music I tolerated the louder volume. Hopefully it will be better tonight.
