Yes and this is the part we should try to stay focused on. He's one hell of a hotrod and racecar builder.

Blue 27 is NOT channeled. Body sits on 2 x 3 frame with a 1" radius on the bottom to look like a rolled pan.

I’d be rolling out of those roadsters on my hands and knees. Then I’ll need help to get up….

Larry drove the D F R C house car until he crashed it in June 1981 and I parked it. He had won 26 features, two 2nds and a 4th place with a tire going down. Johnny Ziegler [ another D F R C car ] and Larry dominated Capitol Speedway up until June 16th with only one other driver winning one feature. Johnny Z went on to win the Capitol and Slinger track championships.

At 88 years old gave up trying to get in and out of my rat rod. The Lone Ranger. Can't show a picture. Almost as bad getting in/out of my late model daily drivers. Soltice coupe, Chrysler Crossfire and Saturn Red Line.

Names from the past! My first race (mid '80s) was @ Capitol in the Street Stock class in a '71 Monte. Put it in an enduro race & destroyed it. But I got the racing bug and ran several more years, mostly @ Dells Motor Speedway in a '71 Chevelle & '65 Chevelle in the Super Stock class.

Thanks Turbo for the link. Owner/driver Billy Hagen felt he did what he set out to do. Winning LeMans. Only transmission problems dropped the team to 2nd place in 1982. Totally unbeatable in 1984.

1981, A picture I am most proud of. Copied from the Checkered Flag newspaper. Junior Hanley. [ The greatest short track late model driver out of Canada at that time ] and Butch Lindley eventual winner of the All American 400 that weekend. Set up by Junior. My car was so fast in hot laps they took the time to come and check my car out. Engine was loaned to me by The TOP engine builder in the Midwest . Prototype/Ron Neal. Free of charge, no questions asked. Ask yourself why he did that. All the hot dogs were already running his engines. img137.jpg PS; My driver, Dirt track specialist Rodney Combs

WOW. Did your car win that race? Back in my college days I was a gopher mech for a team from Libertyville that built the infamous DeKon Monzas for IMSA. Neal did their motors. Before that the same team ran a Capri in the Camel GT. Ron build those injected V-6 engines, too. And before that the team used his Alfa motors in the 2.5 TransAM and SCCA sedan racing. Small world.
