Little bit too much scrub radius, little bit too much tire width, little bit too much caster, little bit too much steering ratio, getting older....... It all works against us.

Some people get out of their depth with steering geometry . This ^^^ is where a seemingly small tolerance can turn into a major problem.

So my argument for the dreaded EPS is somebody who is out of their depth can install it and not f*** with the geometry.
We are all "aging-out" and our bodies are paying the price for past sins. So power steering of any type is a step towards keeping these old dinosaurs [the cars :D] on the road.

As Moriarity said, there is an off topic section here that can tolerate this off topic subject [with getting burnt at the stake]

@oldsvroom If you cannot find a Toyota "side steer" power steering box , then leave all your steering components and geometry alone.
Then Add a power steering ram ...........But not the "unpredictable" OEM style like on early cars.

The problem is the vagueness caused by the control valve being in the ram itself [this has a direct effect on steering angles]
USE a sprint car control valve in the column [eg: Sweet] and plumb this to the ram. Having the control valve in the column reduces vagueness due to the steering box ratio.

All OEM power steering boxes and racks have the control valve on the column/pinion side .

Anybody that plays with dirt sprint cars.
There are plenty of people throwing their toys out of the cot in racing circles

    Here is a new one
    https://www.kartek.com/parts/sweet-...ion-34-30-spline-to-driver-34-48-to-rack.html

If you knew what you're doing, you could chop up a power steering rack [cut off the pinion and add a column]
Power racks have the same 4 hydraulic ports as the Sweet unit

But this ^^^ could be just as costly.
And by the time you get all the components together the Toyota side steer power steering box might be more attractive

We are not supposed to discuss R&P steering.

Liking a soft ride, often some run tire PSI a bit low=Dose help ride, but it has the side affect of steering very hard when stopped, same as using tires on front that are over 5 inch's wide. Same goes for high caster number,of over 5*= Any or all of those things, can be adjusted out,an car will then steer with a lot less armstrong use.
Are you in any of the boat above??? If so,try some adjusting, and see if,after you may not need power steering after all.

Honestly, why not do a ford f1 or f6 steering box with a shortened pitman arm? Its actually easier on a model a than power steering all around and less junk to screw with.

If this is the car in question, the too fat under inflated tires with too much negative offset on the wheels (look cool though) wheels are a bit part of the problem. There is probably a couple hundred pounds of unnecessary decorative weight hanging on the front end that could be tossed in the s**** pile too.
I'd bet dollars to donuts that that car didn't have those wheels or all that "theme" frufru nonsense a few years ago when it drove pretty decent.

That car is in better taste ,than the flamed paint job on the "late model" in the background.
