To knock the sheen down in any paint add corn starch, mix it in and strain it. Do test to determine sheen desired. Linseed oil is a varnish and will yellow and build up, look at the lid on an old can. Briwax is a good subs***ute and is just beeswax and carnauba wax. Get the clear.
Not sure. I used to have a pile of 7024. I am a big fan of arctec 223. That stuff is amazing to weld with and has enough elongation properties to make it good for suspension parts. But you have enough m*** any 7018 will be fine.
I’m back. Took a 4 year sabbatical to raise our baby Grandaughter. She’s in daycare now, so I might get some time on the OPC.
This project has been sitting for a long time, so I made an offer to buy it back. After some haggling Ron and I came to an agreement. Will maintain the patina look as much as possible, with a more updated ch***is. This coupe will have fenders and running boards. Engine is a 1962 327 cubic inch. Will provide periodic updates in my thread "33-34 Ford coupe bodies".
Engine mounts are just tacked in - this will all come apart for final welding and painting of the frame. It was a great buy but it took top dollar to get it back.
This is a cool build. I like the new direction and hopefully you'll get it finished sooner than later. Do you attend Deuce Days? I'm registered and planning to drive over for 2025.
I live 20 minutes from where the main Deuce Day event will be held. Message me in advance and we can meet up.
