Technical 40 ford standard pickup hood ornament.

    Will a 40 ford standard pickup hood ornament fit on a 40 ford standard car hood?

    No, hoods are different.

    Uh, I always thought the nose trim was the same. Maybe the handle is different though.

    @alchemy the pickup hoods are a bit taller and they have a different part number as well.

    I just went thru this: the std. car nose piece will fit the truck hood but the commercial nose piece is just a little bit longer where the hood handle attaches. The commercial hood handle is longer and covers up the area where the std. hood piece is shorter. I used the std car piece on my '40 truck hood and the correct longer hood handle. It all worked out and you can't tell the difference when the hood release handle is closed. Hope this all makes sense!

    Wow, and I thought I knew most everything about 40’s. I’ve owned a Standard for over 40 years. Shows you never stop learning.

    I have a few NOS hood handles in a box somewhere, supposed to be commercials. I’ll never be lucky enough to build a pickup. I should dig them out and get them in the cl***ifieds.
