Interesting. I reminds me of a guy called Okie Red that lived here when I came. Claimed he had a '59 Buick with a Piper Cub engine in the trunk that he fired up just for racin' people.

Anyone need some parts. Wayne Heise of Dawson Mn. has been a Studebaker parts vendor for many years, attending Internationals as well as zone meets. He also was a regular at Carlisle and Hershey. He is offering 281 items on a online auction ending Wednesday the 19th. Here is a link to the auction. I have known Wayne for years so I'm just helping get the word out.

Here's a photo that Sondre posted somewhere that was titled Lee Talbot custom ...

What's interesting about this car is the rear end. Looks like they may have used a hood for the trunk lid, and rounded the back of the rear fenders before adding the Corvette taillights.

I wonder if there were changes to the front end too. Anyone know or have other photos of this car?

They say that the majority of Prairie Schooners that made it all the way from St Louis to Oregon City were, in fact, built by Studebaker. John Studebaker had a blacksmith shop in Placerville, Ca. and built wheel barrows for the gold rush miners.

Thanks! when they shut down they shut down they were planning to make airplanes. Probably would have needed a lighter engine.
