Your driveway is nicer than most of the roads around here. I could just drive up and down it.

  6. Just saw you two drive by me, wish my 57 were done so I could drive her to shows and just Sunday drives.

  12. There was a minor road casualty...a screw in a rear tire conveniently located on the top of the tire when parked at the hotel parking lot. Fortunately one of the guys carries a plug kit. Tire was plugged and pressure restored in less than 10 minutes. 20240613_120018.jpg

Our next stop was one of the member's man cave. I had not been there, but had heard it was impressive. Impressive hardly begins to describe the collection. And, one of the nicest guys you would ever meet!

  13. We posed for a group photo before leaving. On this trip, we have members representing BC, Washington, Oregon and California...including a couple lady curmudgeons, both driving their own cars.

And, another couple group car photos outside the "mancave".

    That's not a man cave, that's a museum.

Looks like @Moriarity needs to up his game? Just kidding of course. Very impressive collection. I wonder if the forklift he uses to stock the shelves has a flathead?

These photos made me smile so much my face hurt. The shots where two dudes in a hug and another where three fellas seems to having a great laugh are priceless.
    Cheers

  21. I'll be checking in every day. HRP

  22. Thanks all for your comments and for following along. The plan for the day includes hotel breakfast, "wheels up" by 8:00, heading east bound from Auburn Wa. to St. John Wa.. We'll pick up our passes to the jet boat races at the "slough" and then back into downtown St. John to participate in the boat and hotrod show and shine. Last year, we were the entirety of the hotrod portion. It was a lot of fun.

I am surprised the Witness Protection Program let you leave the island.

It will be hard following this knowing the good times from past adventures.

  25. Looks like hell of a roadtrip, have fun, safe travel, i'll follow on the screen. :):):)

  26. This morning we left the hotel at 8:00. Still a bit nippy out, but roadster warriers come prepared with lots of layers.

East bound and down, loaded up and trucking! A bunch of brightly colored hotrods mixing it up during the morning commute on the freeway.

Another 150 miles and time for the next pit stop in Sprague. The choices were 87 octane or nothing...it's good to know the fresh motor will, if necessary, run on 87 without detonating. We also overwhelmed a small diner (the Viking) as we all arrived for lunch.
    20240614_122420.jpg
We rolled the last 35 miles into St. John. After scoping out the layout at Webb's Slough (they once again are treating us very well with our own special parking area), we headed into downtown St. John and set up for the hotrod portion of the show and shine.

All the jet boats and their crews in bright colored team shirts were also set up for the show and shine in the next block. Sorry, no pics.

After the show and shine, we cruised 35 miles to the town of Colfax for a great Mexican dinner. Hotrods littered the historic downtown.

And finally, we checked in at our hotel, and overwhelmed their parking lot.

So far, the guys from BC have clocked about 500 miles, the crew from southern California are at about 1500 miles. Great trip so far, the weather has cooperated though some of the cross wind gusts made sure you were paying attention.

Tomorrow, we drive back to St John for the sprint boat races!

I see Bill is there but with his roadster or his truck? And you’re still letting Ken Green hang out with you guys?! LOL

    This is too cool!

  30. Indeed Bill is here driving his flathead powered highboy roadster.
20240614_183858.jpg His son, Neil is driving the Mopar pick-up. The pick-up is powered by a cool Aussie Mopar 265 CID straight 6 cylinder hemi. It doesn't have the expected appearance of a hemi (large valve cover, spark plug in the center of the valve cover, crossflow intake and exhaust)...but checking out the engine online, it was indeed marketed as a hemi (low dome, slightly canted valves) and has a reputation for being a stout performer. It is certainly unusual in these parts.

Ken was very disappointed to miss this trip. He and Tom did drive down to meet up with the gang at the "mancave". But for personal reasons, they went back to their homes that evening. We miss Tommy as the natural self appointed "tail gunner" to the convoy and we miss Kenny (or "the Reverend Green") for his antics...though, he did leave a few of us with parting gifts...I'll post a photo later.
