Event Coverage My Bowling Green experience

What's up out there my friends? Here is a compilation of pictures that I took of the 2 1/2 fifths of bourbon that I enjoyed this weekend just kidding. I drunk all 3 I didn't peruse the show much, just walked down to see ol Bruce and Steve. Primered 34 came by my hut, and enloe was terrorizing the place on a golf cart. But I did watch a lot of drag racing. So that's what my pictures are mostly of. Had a great time, drank some good bourbon, and hung out with good friends. Looking forward to next year happy Father's day you bunch of grizzled old hoodlums here's Andy the truck doctor and his boy chandler in his 50 pickup that I have officially named Papaw, and my buddy Dave that was my date for the event.

Some of the best fuckers you'll ever meet and hang out with, the guys from the Bartone & Lebor Nitro funny car team. Here's Bud Singh and Horatio trying to discuss the best possible way to throw pistons through the side of the block, and Hollywood Kris Krabill about to mix his fuel. Kris drives the fuel coupe, Horatio is the bottom end guy, Bud actually works for another Nitro crew. But he loves Kentucky bourbon

Thursday first qualifying session. Were you there? Saturday was packed. People need to get out and enjoy the cars before your dead!!

 

I'm a sucker for skirts and boots. Looks like you had some fun. Bourbon does keep well. It's best to finish it.

I'm a dog now Billy back to my old ways. Had 2 bottles of Woodrow double oaked, and went in Chuck's liquors, right by the hotel, asked if he had any Eagle Rare, and to my surprise he had one bottle. Yeah, it was a good time

 

Phil I'm sorry! I looked for your car to drive by, that's why I setup where I do, but I didn't think you made it this year! Well shit brother

My rod's at home in sick bay, didn't make the call.

 

Hell yeah! Boots and skirts, along with gassers hanging their front wheels in the air, who could ask for more? I was able to hit Bowling Green last year, one of the best times I've had in many years. Wish I could have made it this year, hopefully 2025 will work out schedule wise. Thanks for the pics, Lloyd.

Thanks for sharing. As kustomrooster said the Sports car or at least it's body in post 7 is a Kellison. Maybe the best looking late 50's / 60's fiberglass body shell ever built to stick on your chassis.

That looks like a fun time with the gassers and gals in boots and skirts.

We had an absolute blast!! Chandler had never been to a drag race before, and now it’s all he talks about. I bought him his first carburetor at the swap meet, and it’s a Holley. I will happily teach him the correct way to rebuild it and install it. He bought the matching Holley Air Cleaner and valve covers too. Tonya doesn’t know it yet, but Chandler and I are planning to start drag racing again. Lloyd took us down and introduced us to the Bartone and Lebor Nitro Funny Car team. We got to hang out in their pits and watch them work on the car between rounds and then we got to go all the way to the starting line when they ran. This was Chandler’s and my first time around a Nitro car and all I can say is Holy Shit and Wow! Getting to be around a Nitro team and being that close during a run is something I’ve dreamt about since I was 11 and discovered drag racing. Lloyd even got Chandler and I team tee shirts from Bartone and Lebor. Thank you Lloyd for a wonderful experience and all you did for us this weekend. I can’t wait for next year!!

We had a good time there too. What the pics can't show you was the HEAT. 'Bout melted us. Good pics all!
