  4. Man, those last two pictures are sad to see. On a happier note, cool to see the black version. I looked and looked for a picture of it and couldn't find one, so cool! Thanks for posting John (@John B)! E

Stanley Staton Sr. and Stanley Jr. are Kentucky boys and we talk sometimes. Stanley Jr. had bought the car back from a guy in Florida and brought it back home a few years ago. He lost a couple motorcycles in that fire as well.

  10. Here's a Mopar that used to frequent Paso Robles. I can't say that I've ever seen it at Santa Maria. Here it is in it's early form..........

And a few shots of it after the padded top was added. E

Ed, just 3 pages in and I hope it goes for 300. I love it.

Quoted you above as I thought I might as well reiterate what you said to start it out....

Late Model Customs is what you are looking for.

I'll add this, it's pretty simple, not street machines, not muscle cars, not pro-street, not street freaks, and not 1964 and earlier either.

Here's some pics of Jim's (Stanlow) Caprice when he go it, with Keystones, then when he put hydralics and real wires shortly after. There's the man himself, posing in a satin car club jacket. Also some steve stanford drawings that are eerily similar to what Jim did so many years ago.

@Sky Six, That's cool and THANKS for posting a lot of great material here. That long blue Buick has got a flowing chop that is out-of-this-world smooth. And the Mustang coupe with the 76 Caprice nose... I'd drive that everywhere. Keep 'em coming.

  16. Thanks Bill (@54delray), appreciate the kind words and the clarification! Jim (@stanlow69) will always be one of my custom heroes. The guy just got it like so few do..........E

  17. Since Steve Stanford's incredible artwork came up, and a mention of late 60s Chevy custom goodness by our late friend Jim Stanley, I thought I'd throw this page of sketch art up of '65 and '66 Chevy dream cars. I don't remember where I found it--possibly right here on the HAMB. There are a few lowriders included in the sketches, but they are drawn to blur the line between custom and lowrider that was so big from the late 70s through the mid 80s. All of these renditions are cool, but the chopped '66 Caprice (the second from the top) is my favorite of this bunch, although I'd happily cruise any of them all over the place! E

  18. Great stuff @richards69impala, thanks for posting! Cool to see lowriders out of Lowrider Magazine's early days. Love both cars, but that Chrysler is the cat's ass! E

  19. The Ruelas Brothers have always been a big part of the legendary Dukes Car Club in California for decades. A number of years back they put together this awesome '65 Impala, complete with chop. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the legendary Bill Hines chopped it. I haven't seen recent pictures of it in a very long time. I'd imagine they still have it. I think it fits in this thread quite nicely. E

Years ago, before FB, this shoebox caused a lot of creative discussion. Lot of talented people making funny comments. It was very entertaining. Thank you for the flashback...
