So, 215 straight 6 w/mechanical fuel pump fuel pressure is only 2psi. Runs fine until I see a hill, incline etc then she's starving for fuel. Tried three different mechanical pumps same same. Electric fuel pump? 6v positive ground, do I need a fuel pressure regulator? Which is best and do I run solo or in conjunction with stock pump? Thanks in advance
If that is the same engine from your previous post, I suspect the fuel pump eccentric is worn down on your camshaft. A small in-line fuel pump with a 5-psi regulator, byp***ing the mechanical pump, would be the best solution until you rebuild the motor or go V8. Finding a 6V pump may be hard.
Yes Sir, same 6cyl. Changed the head gasket, adjusted the valve lash, advanced the timing etc and she runs nice. Like I said I'm on a budget so, one of the mottos from the USMC was " run her till she blows!" Tried two different pumps with the same results. So an electric one looks about right. I've found them on C&Gs website for $90, Amazon has what appears to be the same item for $30. That's not including a regulator. If it's a stand alone pump I'd want a quality one since it'll be running all the time.
This is a six volt pump. Carter has a good reputation. https://carterengineered.com/electric-fuel-pump-p4259 Reviews here: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...Y5R3cKTbOn7G03FBAacmzSFzamB52d1TaV4c56eeKe56g
