Don't know whether they're here as members, but these two YouTubers correspond with what this thread is about, first there's Mat from Iron Trap Garage who does tons of original unmolested stuff (he does seem to find them!)
    https://www.youtube.com/@IronTrapGarage
and then there's Slick50 from Ok Speed and Custom who seems to do high quality trad builds

I can think of a couple of others like them, they are out there.

  5. Ohio George was running them in 61 or 62 on the Willys. Does that come close to answering your question?

Currently finishing up this 2 dr HT 64 Sport Fury done in a super stockish way. 470 stroker 4 speed. the picture is before i completely ripped it apart (maybe not the smartest can of worms to get into). Also gathering parts for a 32 Ford hi-boy late 40s/early 50s style roadster. 36 years old but have been in the hobby since I was a toddler with Dad. unfortunately only a handful of people under 40 in my city who are doing this. 64.jpg

    I guess I count 39 3/4 years old.
There's a few young(er) hot rodders on instagram, one that comes to mind is kellybuilds. I think it's her and her husband building all kinds of different HAMB friendly rods.

I guess by that criteria I qualify. I won't be 40 until August.

Plenty of guys here around my parts who are under 40 and have been doing this stuff for decades.

If under 40 still counts, I guess I'm still young. I guess I can say I've been a member of this forum for the majority of my life now. Snapinsta.app_288529455_1242346896533088_6330964267631207693_n_1080.jpg

  14. I think with resources like the hamb, youtube and the internet in general, along with strong industry support, young people have a better chance than ever to build something, and build it right the first time, and lots are doing it.

I have just turned 36, has my’51 since I was 20 and got the ranch wagon ten years ago. F100 is oh so close to being legal and on the road here. Love the hobby, not a hell of a lot of younger guys locally here that are into it but is a decent bunch throughout the country that are mad into the scene. It is good fun and I truely love thinking with old cars, next one has to be a rod of some type though.

@Cooon, you should make a weekend trip down to the Manawatu area as there are a few youngsters in the area that are into it big time. @Kiwi 4d son, Andrew is building a Y block powered Model A Tudor and is into other cool stuff and I'm sure he could set you up with a great weekend shed raid of youngsters all building cars. Just let me know as I will tag along as well lol

Ahh yeah I know Andrew well. Do you have Dylans old model A? I think that lived in Napier for a while. We always make a big weekend out of the Palmy swap meet that’s coming up. Usually stay at the Feilding hotel for the weekend and have too many DB Draughts

Couple of other old jalopy projects there also.

  22. Some good stuff being built by the younger gens (under 40)

"Misled Youth" here in Oz have and are building some great cars.

Being 42 now o_Oo_O..... fuck how did that happen, I definitely can't count myself as a Young Gun.

Adding: OK, early 40s but by the standards here it's still young...

Here’s my first build. Took a little under a year to get driving, I’m 30. Had lots of help from Lumpy63 on the HAMB. 283,t5 with 40 rear

    My brother is 24 and is building a 27T on a A chassis with a 59AB.

I’d run the kidney fronts but I need smaller front tires for those first lol IMG_5529.jpeg

Hi can anyone share the link on Ryan’s Rod and Custom Magazine Young Guns article? I especially like his build specs. Hehe. Thanks.

I’ve aged out but good thread idea. There are tons and tons of young guys building hot rods they just don’t post or get lots of attention here. And they ain’t hanging around in a lawn chairs for $80 a day at good guys.

Met my new mate Harvey Davies at the Father’s Day roadster show. He is all the way across the pond. Here he is with his model A “coop”. Great kid. IMG_1898.jpeg IMG_1899.jpeg
